This idea has always been lurking in my mind and i had decided to let the general idea out for refinement and/or mockery.
After the poll on the old site declaring an overwhelming desire for conventional RP over the confusing mess my first attempt was, Players will be Tank Commanders all from the same school, and will have to share the team's limited funds and number of NPCs for crew positions, and co-ordinate with their fellows on the mach field against other schools for money fame, and the champion's laurel.
Tankery is the Sport of Tank Combat using Prototype and Historical World War Two Tanks, equiped and modeled with period accurate gear, but cutting edge saftey systems to ensure that fatalities are rare.
Special secondary Armour and modified shells ensure that tank damage is superficial at worst and a complex system of computers in both Tank and shell work out, had the shot been real, if the tank would have been knocked out or crew injured by the incoming round, if so. the tank raise a white flag an is immobilized for the rest of the mach.
if a tank suffers non lethal damage, such as the loss of a track or a damaged gun, the crew can try to repair it with what they have on had, but only if the tank is not taking fire at the time. In addition, if the entire crew of a tank leave its interior, the tank is counted as abandoned and becomes knocked out.
The Tankery Club
The key support element to the sport, at the game's start, it will have a handful of low tier tanks, ranked according to World of Tank's tech trees, a small amount of NPCs that can be shared as crew, some funds to repair, and maintain the tanks you have, and an NPC Coach/manager who will handle all purchases and paperwork
In between matches, players can try and recruit more members to fill out crew positions, drum up some more funds via events or improve their crew's performance though training.
They can also check with their manager if any new Tanks are available, but all purchases must be agreed upon beforehand, as its the entire club's money to spend and they need to pay upkeep every month on the tanks.
Funds and Purchases
As the Game progresses, the club may well need to upgrade both the weapons on the Tanks and the Tanks themselves, your Support NPC will keep a list of available tanks and parts, but, if the available funds at the end of each month is less than the upkeep costs they will be forced to sell a tank at random. if the club has not money and no tanks, it is game over.
Funds can be earned by winning matches, hosting fund raisers, or by sponsors once the club's fame gets more widespread.
In Combat
When in a match, players will be free to command their tank as they see fit, and a map will be provided with icons representing player tanks and any spotted enemy tanks. In match posts will be in segments of ten seconds, therefore player actions in match posts must be contained with that time frame so if your tank has a 30 second reload, it will be three rounds until you can fire again, if your speed is only 20 KPH, you'll not be crossing the map in a single post.
Crews
Crews will also have a hidden stat profile, representing how skilled they are, how familiar they are with the tank they are operating, and how good their morale is. Players can earn Perks that boost crew effectiveness, starting with one selected at creation and more earned for good roleplaying. So while you may want to upgrade to a stronger tank, crew performance will drop once the transfer is made.
Some Tanks require different number of crew, requiring their commander to add or remove NPCs to fill the positions, but breaking up battle-forged teams will also have a negative effect on performance, so think carefully about removing a skilled crewman/woman or adding in a rookie to fill an open position.
The Tanks
At First, all the Club will have available is a handful of early war and mid war tanks, a fuel reserve and enough shells for a match or two plus training, but the only other requirement is that the Tanks be fully enclosed to protect the crew, and be developed before 1960.
Available classes of tanks are, Light, Medium, Heavy and Tank Destroyer.
The Tanks will only come from the following Nations: Germany, France, UK/Commonwealth, USSR, Japan, USA
At School
Players are students aboard a Carrier school deigned to bring students from many cultures together, so not only can they be of any nationality, but so can their tanks and crews. The main body of the RP will take place at the Tankery Club, but players are welcome to RP regular life outside the club if they wish.
More to come
