Planning thread for the Deathwatch game I intend to run on Dakka. So the basic premise is that you will be a Deathwatch team inserted into a hiveship with the objective of killing the Norn Queen at the ships heart, thereby robbing the splinter fleet of a controlling intelligence and bringing an end to its threat to a nearby Imperial star system. I'm hoping for a squad of about 10 marines with a variety of positions. Sergeant: Special Weapons: Heavy Weapons: Librarian: Marine: Marine: Marine: Marine: Marine: Marine: The 6 standard marines will probably be roughly evenly split between assault and support roles, so 3 cc specialists and 3 bolter armed marines for fire support. All the standard good stuff will of course be included, inc special bolter rounds and shiny power weapons. It would be great to have one or two of you guys in to keep things running along smoothly, so if you are interested please comment below. I know coolyo294 and admiral9 were interested before, anyone else?

I should also state that this won't be a continuation of the previous Deathwatch games we've had on this site, but a similar game set in a different area of the galaxy.

[Book spoiler ahead] Just a suggestion, if you haven't already then read the second novel in the Ultramarines novel series by Graham McNeil. Later on a Deathwatch team actually boards a hive ship to kill the norn queen. Good inspiration for this.

I have indeed read it, I'm hoping it will be a useful resource for this. Thank you!

In any case, if you want any advice with running game - while I'm no Deathwatch expert, I think I've certainly had my fair share of experience - then just shoot me a PM.

I am tempted to join in mind you, could nab the librarian perhaps if you wanted an experienced person to be throwing around bolts of psychic skullduggery.

That'd be good! I don't mind what characters you guys take, although it would be nice to leave some of the "more interesting" roles to those we want to recruit. I'm hoping someone with a bit of experience will rp a normal marine as well, to show folk how interesting even the most basic roles can be.

Well here's my guy. Indiscriminate genocide chapter, ahoy Username: Coolyo294 Character: Kar Galeocerdo Age: 185 Personality: Cold and taciturn out of battle, yet during combat he fights with a fury that could rival even a disciple of Khorne. He is highly devoted and will always try to go out of his way to honour sites of Imperial worship Equipment: Plasma pistol, chainsword, "Shark's Tooth" combat knife (A combat knife with a serrated, double edged, triangular shaped blade), scrimshawed talisman (the tooth of an unknown xenos beast scrimshawed with disturbing symbols of carnage and devotion) Reasons for being inducted into the Deathwatch: To fulfill an ancient oath of duty sworn by the Carcharodons to the Deathwatch of Castle Ice Background: Kar Galeocerdo was born on a lightless world beyond the reach of the Imperium. When he was six, the Carcharodons encountered his homeworld and plucked him up from his tribal existence after they found him to be biologically compatible with Space Marine implants. He passed the gladiatorial trials the Space Sharks put him through and was inducted into the chapter as a scout. By the time he had reached the rank of frontline marine, the Carcharodons had pledged their support to the Imperium in the Badab War. He earned distinction for his actions in the Endymion Cluster when he almost singlehandedly slaughtered five Assault Marines of the Mantis Warriors in a berserk rage. Despite suffering numerous wounds in the brutal melee, Kar continued to fight alongside his brothers for the duration of the Badab War. Other: Kar rarely speaks in anything but an antiquated yet polite form of high gothic (though he does know how to speak the common tongue of the Imperium). Combined with his sibilant tone of speaking, his voice is extremely menacing to non-Space Marines Image: In armour: Out of armour: Corpse-grey skin with the liquid-black eyes of a shark. His black hair is shaven into a mohawk and a cold sneer perpetually plays at his lips. All of his teeth have been filed into razor sharp points. There are three horizontal ritual scars on either side of his neck. A black tattoo of the Carcharodons' symbol loops around his left eye.
