Alison smiled and dutifully poured a measure of fragrant liquid into the Female Bodyguard's cup, "This is A favorate of Mistress Akemi, Sencha Vanilla, but if preferred, there is a light roasted coffee blend and lemonade available."
That said she cross over to where Doctor Murkoff was sat and likewise filled his cup, her movements were serene and calm, the maid seemed to be gliding across the floor and gave the impression that if terrorists or space mounters where to suddenly burst through the doorway behind her, she would welcome them and ask them to wipe their shoes.
"I also ask that you do not smoke at the table, all these serous talk makes my head fuzzy and it will go much simpler if you are not all coughing and wheezing."
She smiled again, and coasted back to her trolley, pausing only to attend to her employer as she too sat down. When she had returned to her position and had hands clasped in front of her and an attentive expression, those closest saw her eyes flash towards those who had yet to be seated.
Sera ignored her, crouched as she was by an open panel, checking some wiring against the well folded plans she carried in a thigh pocket. tea and cakes could wait until she was certain that the machine wouldn't explode, or catch fire, or send them to the wrong "time". Once they had gone to whatever time they decided on and come back to this now she'd be happy.
Sera paused, rocking back and forth on her heel as she stared up at the ceiling. that was the scariest part of this whole thing, she had seen enough films, read enough books to know that simple jaunts through the timeline always ended up poorly, some minor pollution by the time travels way back in the stone age ended up with the "now" being ruled by Nazi's or frog people or something.
She glanced over at the others and frowned, hopefully they can do this jaunt through time and be back to the "now" they belonged to.

"Well Mr. Lawrence I agree and I'm actually more interested in exploring the future more myself. However I still haven't quite worked out the shielding properly yet" She took a quick sip of tea before gently placing the cup back down on the saucer.
"During the first test run I sort of ran across some issues, mostly atoms and such get really really excited during the travel... I won't lie it stopped the hearts of things before I got that sorted out a bit. However it's safe for us, just prepare to feel sort of seasick and out of breath when we arrive" she took another sip.
"I haven't tried ammunition yet which is why I wasn't allowing guns, we could bring some of your ammunition along with us stored somewhere safe to us and see how it goes, but.." she reached into her pocket bringing out of it a charred husk of a mobile phone. "As I was saying things get really excited and well, this is how my phone went on the first trip... The battery must have been supercharged and exploded... So until I get the shielding done or we have a successful test I'd have to insist against the ammunition at least. However, I suppose you're right about the weapons so you may brig them along if you wish. We just might find compatible ammunition anyway"

Robert had taken a generously filled cup of tea for himself. with four sugars, the way he liked it. All this talking got on his nerves. First off, he wasn't comfortable, and second now it looked like he was the oustsider, everybody was talking except for him. He caught his hand shaking as a few drops of hot tea poured on his thumb. He forced to stop shaking and pretended he didn't feel pain from the hot water he had spillt.
He wished they would get on with it. At first he wished he hadn't been here in the first place, but then again, he wouldn't get to see all those wonderfull things on the other side. What was the other side going to be like? Is 'the other side' a suiting description for it? He didn't know anything about this scientific stuff, he just wanted to see wonderfull things, learn new insights in the past and write about them in the journal he specially bought for this occasion.
He knew he couldn't time travel in these clothes he was wearing, all dressed up in a suit with a tie and all. He had packed a big sports bag full of clothes and other items he thought might prove usefull. He tried to remember if he had packed all he needed and if he hand't forgotten anything.
He was getting distracted by all his thoughts, but then again, he was trying to get his mind off the situation. Robert wasn't much a people person, he'd much rather be alone in a library or something, then in a room full of people.
He sipped his tea and hoped he wouln't have to speak anytime soon.

"I for one don't think the Future is a good idea." Sera chipped in, her breath ragged as she tightened a bolt on a Panel, "In the past we can have some idea of what to expect, and what about the big girl here?" She patted the Machine affectionately, "Medieval peasants won't know what to make of her if they find her, were as Future people might figure her out and take her from us."
"I'm Sure Mistress Akemi has taken that into consideration." Alison countered calmly from her trolley where she was arranging cakes artfully on a stand and transferring it in the center of the table, giving her Mistress a reassuring smile as she did so. Then she was back at her trolley, demure and attentive once again, a good servant.

Julie was amazed at the tea, the fragrance alone was already amazing, she was not sure what to do. She decided a quick sip would be best and so she did. The taste was extraordinary and so she had another sip once more being very surprised at this odd but still delicious taste. Julie looked up from the tea and noticed there was a conversation going on about the destination, "I don't particularly mind our destination personally, I'm with alison on this one miss akemi knows best which way to go" after saying that julie returned to her tea again only to notice her cup was empty, a suppressed snicker came out and julie stood up grabbed her gun and the duffle bag and walked towards the lockers, she opened an empty one and started filling it with all electronics she had on her, she also put her M4 and G17 in it, a second less suppressed snicker came out. All she had left was her combat knife, food, a change of clothes and some matches, she sighed and walked back towards her chair awaiting further orders.

Arthur checked his pocket watch for the fifth time in the past five minutes. It was an old thing, having been made a century or more before the present day. He still remembered the day his mother had given it to him, this little round piece of burnished gold on a bronze chain. She had told him who it belonged to; his great grandfather who had lived in another time and another life. Thinking about that day, Arthur supposed he could trace his love of historical studies to that moment when for the first time he held history in his hands. He was fascinated how such a small thing could continue going, its little clockwork gears making it tick for a hundred years. He knew his family had to have taken care of it as if it were a precious artifact for it to last so long in its condition. It was his only heirloom and a link to the past.
A link to the past...
He looked up from the table he had been seated at a few moments ago. He heard Ms. Akemi talking about something but it was not something he was currently interested in. His eyes were transfixed upon the machine. He had so many questions that scarcely had answers. Arthur could still hardly believe what he had been told; a device capable of transporting people through time and space. He was still skeptical that it would work of course, who wouldn't be? But he knew of Ms. Akemi and knew that she was indeed brilliant in her studies. But still, how could someone so young get the resources to make such a device?
Arthur shot a glance at the Doctor at the table, the man who said he had been with the government. He was sure that little connection had something to do with it. Arthur wondered, not for the first time, if he'd been caught up in some sort of political or spy game. It sounded silly in his mind, but if this was an honest to goodness time machine...well...he could only imagine who would want to get their hands on it. They could all be in serious danger in that regard. And yet...the opportunity was too great to pass up.
Arthur was vaguely aware of someone placing something in front of him. It was the serving girl that Ms. Akemi had summoned, she was putting the coffee that Arthur had requested in front of him in a small mug on a white dish. He wasn't really a tea person. Arthur thanked the woman and flipped close the pocket watch he was holding, feeling the five diamonds embedded in the lid once more as he did so as well as the finely engraved word that was under them; "Evans."
He looked up. Not without manners, he had put his hat in his lap before sitting. He stuck the watch into one of his pockets having hung his brown coat upon the back of his chair as well. The others sitting at the table were all alien to him and there were several things about them that made him uneasy. Two of them were smokers, a habit he found disgusting but had learned to tolerate in polite company over the years. The doctor sported a beard, something Arthur also found unclean. The others in the group sported firearms of all types which made Arthur nervous. In short, internally his nerves were writhing, but just as his teacher in school had taught him, he took a deep breath, sipped his coffee and maintained a cool exterior no matter what parts of his strange mind rebelled at the current company.
He finally came back to the current conversation as the word "future" was uttered. Arthur stirred.
"Miss Akemi, with all due respect," he began. "Your device's greatest potential is in the field of historical studies. Just, I mean, imagine what we could learn with it." He said, his speech seeming to start and stop as if he wasn't so sure of his position in front of so many people. He felt their eyes upon him keenly.
"I'm sorry, where are my manners? My name is Arthur Evans, a pleasure to be all of your acquaintances. Much as the good doctor is here for a reason, I was invited along for my great knowledge of anthropology." He turned back to Akemi as he pushed his seat back and rose to walk over towards the machine. "But as I was saying, this machine, if it works, represents the greatest boon to historical studies that man has ever received. We have an unparalleled opportunity to see places, events, people, and sites that we could only read about today. Imagine if you will, seeing the courts of the English kings, or the hanging gardens of Babylon. Imagine seeing the Egyptian Pyramids being built or the fields of Agnicourt. Just think about the possibilities! Why, with such a device we could see the contents of the Library of Alexandria! We could answer questions historians have had for centuries!"
It was obvious that he was a little excited as he spoke one sentence to the next. "Yes the curiosity of what lies in the future is great but I must insist that seeing history unfold before us...that will be much more rewarding, Miss Akemi."

"I agree, though in a way the future is someone's past as well. " she put down her cup. "Since most of you seem most passionate, we'll go to the past first. We could go with what's likely a more relaxed trip to that library you mentioned." she stood up.
"Also I'd suggest you all sort of hurry a little, we'll be having visitors in roughly five minutes and they were not invited" she stated as she casually walked over to one of the lockers and opened it. She pulled out a metal suitcase then strolled over to the machine.

"Tell me first, Mr Evans-" Seb said clearly, his hand gently lifting his cup of tea, and sipping of the pale liquid. He took another few moments to savour it. It'd been a long time since he'd had proper tea "-How much do you know of Latin? Or Egyptian? Or Ancient Greek? I know that you're a prodigy, and its a pleasure to meet you, but if we cannot communicate with those who we're dealing with, there are a thousand thousand dangers we could be subjecting ourselves too. By all means, if you have the skill to be our interpreter, then I will gladly support your ambition to travel into the past" The doctor reached down by his side, unclipped his sidearm, removed the magazine, the case of the topmost round shining softly.
Gun had last been fired at the range two weeks ago. It had been perfectly fine, and he'd made sure to clean it several times since then. Hearing he wouldn't have the option of using it both made him glad as well as annoyed - it was always useful to be armed in a multitude of situations. He moved towards the provided lockers, ears still listening for Evans's reply. Storing his two spare magazines in the locker, he came back, putting his now empty weapon back into his shoulder rig. "At least if we land around WW2, I'll be able to find a few rounds for this thing. M1911s have been around for a very long time"
He wondered what would happen if they actually did get into a fight. Would he be able to ram a knife into someone from close range? Stab a man through the heart and watch the light drain out of his eyes? He'd seen someone hacked to death by machetes before...would he be able to hurt someone that way?
It didn't matter. He had a job to do.

When her mistress stood up, Alison paused her a moment to brush off her shoulders with a tiny brush pulled from a pocket, then while Akemi was busy with a locker, the maid reached into her cleavage and pulled clear an envelope addressed to "Assault Team 5" and laid out a few more cups and saucers and placed the teapot on the center of the table and propped the envelope against it.
Then she turned and started to shoo the others towards the time machine, "Come along now, you heard the Mistress, time's a-wasting, or not as the case may be." She gave a soft chuckle at the thought as she stooped to pick up the CDC Doctor's Lab Coat and gave it a quick brush before handing it to him with a smile.
Sera rolled her eyes as she turned the hatch locking wheel and pulled the door open, the steps unfolded just as Akemi reached the machine, and the mechanic gave her and overacted bow and a drawling "madam, you chariot awaits."
Then without a backwards glance, She trotted up the steps into the Time Machine, whistling tunelessly.

Ayaka thought to go pick up the envelope first, then considered it would probably be ok and left it be. She walked up the stairs into the machine, which was surprisingly spacious despite the tin can appearance. The control area was somewhat cramped, but that was to make space for the small living areas which would allow the travelers basic living comforts no matter the time they happened to be in. Within it were four small bedrooms, three of which had bunks for the travelers and the last for Ayaka herself which contained a cramped desk area. It was this room she quickly walked for first, on the far wall a small safe which she quickly placed the suitcase in before shutting. She emerged from the small room walking past the small bathroom to the main control chair, she sat and faced the panels as the others quickly sorted out their own rooms and returned to sit in place.
The door shut and a large screen flicked to life showing the machine's exterior and some small charts to the side of it giving readings. The top center of the screen read the current time; "22.06.2014 15:04 1.00726". She pressed a few buttons and the machine hummed to life. She span around to face the others. "Now then, if you want to see that library which I think might be a good practice run for you all to get used to I'm going to need a date and location from someone that'd get us there".
