What motivation would minor offence convicts want to escape when they could gain a longer sentence? Escapees are more the ones with nothing to lose. Well we can either do an authoritarian dictatorship where every sentence is a life sentence, or we can base it off of a "3 strikes" rule where you are all third offenders and third offenders get life in prison. Yes there was the idea of having two maps, one with everything that I have and one with only areas open to prisoners for you. I was debating about honesty and having to trust the GM to not make things up as they go along and making the game more difficult. For the most part the prison map will be widely visible with very few areas that are unknown. Maybe the armory for the guards for example, otherwise prisoners do work in various areas of the prison so they know what's where. A coed prison isn't really a good idea, not sure if I care too much about gender for the prison though. Who knows, maybe this will take place in an enlightened authoritarian dictatorship.

If you're going for a dictatorship then I suppose there could be things like political prisoners as well eg) anyone that speaks out of puts out a fight. And those kind of people would likely be locked away for ever probably under the guise of terrorists ext I suppose.

If you're going for a dictatorship then I suppose there could be things like political prisoners as well eg) anyone that speaks out of puts out a fight. And those kind of people would likely be locked away for ever probably under the guise of terrorists ext I suppose. Honestly this morning while I was using the compactor at work I was thinking about a reason as to why and political prisoners or prisoners of war came to mind. The issue is that I want an easy prison to break out of but need a reason for it to exist in the way it is. Hell, I was even thinking plague victims but that would probably be pretty high in the whole "don't let them out" sort of thing. When it comes to the actual prison layout I have an idea for it down already I just need to come up with where I want cells, an armory, and patrol routes to be. As for the external bits of the prison; the main wall will be in the shape of a triangle with a guard tower at each point, each tower has one spotlight, two cameras will be attached to each guard tower, and the main building will be a large square in the center of the triangle fencing. One main gate with a tower and the main containment area is dotted with cameras and of course guards. In the end it might be a futuristic prison; going to exclude multiple species because I'm not ready for that yet, set on a distant bit of dirt, main goal would be to escape the prison in some fashion. Once you're out of the prison then that's the end of the game, if it's successful enough I might have another one where it's leaving the planet.

I did find some things that I kind of want to use for this, but there are some reasons I have for this update. I feel like I need to show you all that I am working on it and to tell you why "development" is a bit slow. So the reason development is a bit slow is because Halonachos owes what a house in the area costs for student loans and recently has been applying for a lot of jobs; a local one was really promising and offered 29k with potential to earn 35k with overtime and overnight differential. Unfortunately this did not go well for Halonachos and Halonachos is at that special point in a college grad's life where they contemplate deep-throating(if you don't know what this means then don't look it up, please) a shotgun. Don't worry, it's mainly just a pity-party thrown on my behalf. Now on to what I have been mentally spelunking for. Personally I was thinking about a futuristic dystopia(those are fun)with a "rehabilitation" center being the actual prison for political dissidents who are causing too much of a stir for the "perfect society" put in place by the "Altruist". For guards I found this nice little image made by some fellow that had varying degrees of armor. Fits perfectly for what I was planning in terms of staged responses. I won't call them "peacekeepers" because that's a bit too cliche, but I think they would be called "Donors". Now hear me out on this name, I want the theme to center around giving and how the current government gives so much to it's people that they should be complacent and ignore any sort of wrongdoing. Now utopias are supposed to be peaceful, happy, and everything is supposed to run smoothly. What better way to express bumps in the system than to take the last part of "dissident" and decide that the term for the prisoners would be "Dents". This also makes it a game of "Donors and Dents" which sounds kind of cool in my own opinion. So I managed to get a small story and background done for this. It's just that I'm a bit bummed as of late so progress is super slow.

Alright, as I said in a different thread I plan to launch this at the beginning of Summer. Hopefully around June 15th-20th due to the fact that schools should be out and the majority of people interested should be able to join the game. I will also attempt to make a 3D map either in Minecraft or some other game because I think it would look a bit better than a map made in Paint. If I had an ideal program it would be made in the Starcraft World Editor because I really like the Installation doodad palette and could easily color terran marines as guards or prisoners as well as show which one is which should I need to use the different classes of guards. I am debating a rules system though; I will either use the PAN system that Mordo developed and used in Lazarus or I will use a somewhat simple D20 system with y'all trusting me to not lie about dice rolls. Guard statistics and character sheets will release in May so they can be collected before the June launch. Until then I leave you with the Head Philanthropist of the Veragut Facility for the Unsatisfied.

So I was trying to find a good mod for minecraft to make the facility look more prisony in terms of textures. Couldn't really find one that I was 100% happy with so I just chose to build most of it out of a sterile looking material. Finished one cell block and will be posting some screenshots as soon as I can.
