OOC threadAyaka slowly opened the door revealing darkness, her foot steps echoed as she walked slightly ahead of the group. An echoing click and the fluorescent lights blinked to life revealing a reasonable sized sterile white room. "Just this way" she gestured to the group to follow. The six of them followed, her glancing around the room. "I'm assuming all of you know why you're here, in fact if you didn't you wouldn't" she smirked. "The short of it is we're going to be exploring, but none of that boring stuff like the void of space or the depths of the ocean... well not quite" she stopped and turned to face them all. "This tin can you see here is the Chronos, A temporal-spacial manipulation vehicle; time machine" she gestured to the machine behind her. "Now, if you hadn't already it's probably a good time to get to know each other while I do some preparations. Maybe think up where you'd all like to go first... Oh! we can go both directions in time but to avoid issues I think we should try to avoid travelling to a point of time where we existed in; that's why I got your ages earlier actually. So we will be going at least 100 years into the future or at least 49 years into the past to be careful of Mr Matthews here".

Julie walked through the door after mister murkoff, she looked around but didn't see much, "Just this way" miss akemi gestured, "I'm assuming all of you know why you're here, in fact if you didn't you wouldn't" she continued. What was julie here for really, her only reason that she could think of was once more escorting the doctor as she had done many times before, she knew he was here on government business but the government had never really been something she cared about, she was just here as a mere bodyguard she guessed. Her M4 was on her back and she was grasping her g17 which was in its holster on her waist, and she also had a duffle bag which she was carrying on her other shoulder filled with necessary essentials like ammo, food, a laptop, a change of clothes and some other tidbits. She already know where they were going though, back into time. Julie had apparently not been paying a lot of attention as it seemed the introduction to the room was over.
Julie decided she might as well introduce herself "Well good day I am Julie Buchannon I am a former PMC and currently a bodyguard for you guys specifically mister murkoff over there, so yeah i am looking forward to working with all of you."

Lawrence walked behind the group, sizing each one up. He wasn't a fan of others nor did he like to talk to others either, so after Ms. Ayaka was finished with her little speech and told them to introduce each other, he took a step back from the group and allowed the others to do that.
The group started to chat, with the young PMC girl starting off. Lawrence didn't like her kind, they always caused problems for him back when he was in the Corp. Whether it was with their backroom dealings or just blatant disregard for civilians, they always were a pain. The Doctor she escorted was a tall man with wide shoulders, especially for a scientist. His motives were unclear, and Lawrence thought he was the most dangerous as he shared very little interest in this project being a medical doctor.
The tech girl and brains were the only people he felt he could trust to any degree, along with Ms. Ayaka, for he at least knew their backgrounds and motives. Techy was a british girl who could fix anything that wasn't broken and kept the time machine working from the looks of it, making her very important to the group and to Lawrence. He wasn't getting stuck in the past or the future. The same applied for Ms. Ayaka, but Arthur was a different case. He was a genius, but definitely not a people person, he could remember anything important but not your name. While that annoyed Lawrence, he knew that would come in handy later.
This left one more individual, the History teacher, who no one knew anything about beyond his degree and name. That bothered Lawrence beyond all belief, people like that always did. At least the doctor and pmc girl had a history he could look up or could be told, Robert lacked that.
Regardless, Lawrence sat back and waited for the others to introduce themselves, meanwhile pulling out his Colt 1911 Operator and began checking its internals, before holstering it back in his chest rig. He also brought along his Custom DSR-1, a bullpup sniper rifle that measured the length of a standard Carbine. It`s barrel was shorter but thicker than the standard as it was a subsonic version of the rifle, being effectively silent when shot, and its flash was reduced as well. He had a 3.5x35 dual sight ACOG scope mounted on top and 5 clips on his body, while another 2 in the gun, and still another 2 cases of ammo in Julie`s duffel bag. The DSR was slung over his shoulder in its case and the ammo spread out on his chest rig. He also carried a small bag with him, that held a few light sticks, two different colored smoke grenades, and extra food bars and water packs incase things got sticky.
Lawrence put these things down and pulled out a small cylinder and flipped the lid open, pulling a cigarette out, and lighted it putting it to his lips and taking a long drag. "Here was to a little bit of action," Lawrence thought as he watched the others.

Robert didn't feel comfortable. He never quiet did when in the company of people he didn't know. That made making friends hard for him. It felt like he was out of place in this group of people. He didn't really have an interest in futuristic technology like this. He was just excited to be here because of the ability to travel to the past.
Maybe he could find out the missing links in the past, but he knew he could never publish his findings in present time. This was a disclosed experiment, so bringing the information he learned to the outside would prove difficult.
Robert would not introduce himself now, he decided. They would get to know me when we're in the field. He saw Lawrence lighting a cigarette, and the smell reminded him how long he hadn't smoked. Robert took a pack of tobacco out of the inside pocket of his suit and a thin rolling paper. In a matter of seconds he had rolled a cigarette and lighted it with a matchstick he took from his pocket. He didn't really know if they were allowed to smoke in here, and was worried by the fact he was smoking in here. Normally he wouldn't do things like smoking inside. He hated to break rules, but the situation was exciting enough.

Seb Murkoff had traveled for a day to arrive at Akemi's lab. He'd had to spend an hour before leaving talking to his old Aunt on the phone - the woman was always worrying about him, about her Sebs, being hurt or killed in some far off land. He didn't think she realised it, but he didn't get into very dangerous situations all that often. Well, other than a few major outbreaks and one or two quarantine lines that'd been rushed by armed people determined to get out. The firs time that'd happened, he'd stood in a corner of the children's ward with as many nurses and other doctors as he could gather. By the end of it, the door was filled with three corpses, and he was shaking.
The other thing he didn't think she'd realised was that he'd spent nearly all the money he had saved on her medical bills. The old lady didn't check her payment slip often enough...if he came back from whatever Akemi had planned, he'd no doubt get an earful of 'you didn't have to do that!' and 'Your mother would be so ashamed that I'd taken money from her son'. Seb really didn't mind that...it just showed that she was healthy. It was the least he could do with how much he owed her.
Those thoughts, however, had not haunted him on his way to the lab. He'd spent that time reading up on the mysterious doctor Akemi. Her work was quite extraordinary. He couldn't wait to see it first hand, and experience what it was like to travel through the very fabric of time. Of course, he was being sent both as a medical aid, and as a watchful eye in case any new or very dangerous diseases were found upon their travels. He'd been the only person asked from the whole government team keeping an aye on Akemi brave enough to go. Next to the big tough marine that'd been seconded as a security specialist, he was tiny, and Seb knew he was a large man. That soldier had been utterly terrified at the prospect of going through time.
Now, the rest of the team he had to deal with. His bodyguard, Julie, who was currently spilling out her life story to everyone within earshot. A man he'd clocked for a soldier trailed behind,Lawrence something. The CIA had had a sparse file on him, which he'd managed to procure - proficient in weapons and considered highly dangerous, the man was unpredictable. Then, there was the PHD in history. Robert. Nothing special. The Genius kid who he'd heard had been working in a library, and then Ms. Akemi's staff. The mechanic who he didn't really know much of, and he'd heard something of a maid. More unimportant people.
The group was ragtag, and Murkoff knew he was the only person under government order. "I am Doctor Seb Murkoff, and I'm here at the behest of the Centre for Disease Control and the government of the United States of America. I'm a medical doctor, and I can treat your injuries, but my primary objective is to ensure that no infectious diseases which cannot be treated are brought back from this expedition, by any means necessary."
He turned, and glanced at Robert and Lawrence, the smell of smoke in his nostrils causing him to grimace internally "Gentlemen, though I know it may calm your nerves, that's not too polite, nor is it advisable around sensitive machinery."
Plus I fucking hate it

"Okay, my preparations are done. Also I can see a few of you have guns, I'm going to say in the interest of trying to not cause any paradoxes... well any more than us moving outside of time... that they stay here, there's lockers off to the side for you to store them in. Also from the first test run, you're going to want to leave electronics behind... they're well, anyone ever put a CD into a microwave? Oh... that might mean the ammunition could be set off by the travel too... definitely leave that behind. Can take knives for self defence of course, we want to avoid combat but if we encounter it we don't want to be screwed over either. If you wish to take photos or whatever I have some disposable cameras over there on that desk; they're analogue and that's basically all I've figured out that we can take with us so far while I figure out the shielding properly" Ayaka stated as she returned from within the machine.
"So then, only one thing remains and that's have you guys figured out where you want to go or do you want me to just pick something? Oh and tea".

Almost as if on cue, the group became aware of the rattle of crockery and to the surprise of most, an older woman in traditional maid uniform pushed a trolley laden with cups, saucers, cakes and a teapot entered the chamber behind them. the woman paid no attention to the machine, but paused to cursty demurely, then pushed the trolley to a small table and chair set in a corner near the lockers previously indicated. Once there she laid out a table cloth with almost military precision, then placed a cup before each chair, then retreated to the trolley, where she picked up the teapot and adopted an expectant expression.
Sera sighed and rolled her eyes, scooping up her tool box and walking towards the strangely shaped time machine "I'm going to give the old girl a once over myself. You guys go and get mothered by my Sister. Its what she's good at."
Although the comment carried across the space, The maid's face did not so much as flicker.

A tea service? Not seen a proper one for...well, years
A hint of a smile twitched across the Doctor's face, barely there at all. The way the maid had set the table already assured him of her precision. Not going to get a tin cup full of over stewed muck spilled all over his hands this time, no. His labcoat flapped gently as he walked towards the table, a few of the others doing the same, and he removed it as he got closer to his chose seat - draping it over the back. Pens and a few other little things clicked as they were placed down. His watch was in there too - he'd make sure to leave that just incase the machine fried its circuits.
He almost forgot his manners then, but realised how rude he was being. He'd come with a companion after all. Turning, and nodding his head to Julie, he pulled out a chair for her, waiting for her to take a seat. He knew it was a stereotype, but as a British girl, she must at least have a slight liking for tea. That rifle of hers would get in the way when she tried to sit, but as she walked over, she put it down by her side and took the seat he had offered. Pushing her in gently, he then took his own seat, closing his eyes for a moment - to think, and to try and distract his mind from the noxious cigarette smoke.

Julie was a bit disappointed that she would need to leave her weapons behind, they had helped her across many battlefields and saved her life against all kinds of terrorist scum, rebels, insurgents and the occasional target of interest, she was staring down at her g17 now in her hand, she had always considered it a nice gun and now she would need to give it up. she sighed, holstered her pistol again and looked up only to see a woman in maid clothing prepare a small table with many different delights to be had with a cup of tea, she remembered the etiquette classes she had to follow back when she was 12 and how she always had despised them, ''atleast they would come in useful now'' she thought, and she followed mister murkoff towards the table.
To her surprise the doctor then turned around and nodded before pulling out a chair for her, she smiled at him before walking towards the chair putting her duffle bag and M4 next to her chair and taking a seat. After murkoff had taken his own seat she turned to him, "This is the first time ive seen you this polite murkoff, is this a special occasion?" she asked before gently taking the teacup in front of her and waiting for it to be filled by the maid. Speaking of that maid, julie was very impressed by her precision and how welcoming and polite she seemed, if there was one person she expected she could rely on it would be her she guessed and so she continued watched the maid expectantly.

Lawrence scowled and reproduced the cylinder he pulled the cigarette out from, put it back in, and put it back in his coat. He also stuffed any backhanded comment towards the doctor and went over to a locker. He pulled out his pistol and put it on the top rack in the locker, which was rather more spacious than it looked, followed by putting his rifle bag in there as well.
"Ms. Ayaka, I feel if we head towards the future, having the weapons wont cause a problem. I`m no scientist, so don't quote me, but it would be just really old and outdated to those in the future, and they would just think them antiques or something of the such. The past is a different story, but I`m not too keen to visit it anytime soon." Lawrence said as he put the ammo of his in the locker as well, only leaving the knife in rig and in the small of his back.
