Welcome to a Modern roleplay. It is December 31st, 1999 - the turn of the millennium. To celebrate, you are aboard a fancy cruise ship travelling from England to New York. Whether you are a wealthy banker or son of a CEO who resides in the most luxurious suite or perhaps a simple receptionist or builder who has put together savings for this so that your family can have a nice trip together. Maybe you're simply celebrating an important birthday with a group of friends, be it your own or someone else's 21st or 50th. Possibly you are attending a wedding, as the betrothed or a guest.
There's just one problem. One of you is out for blood - a killer. And it's a very long voyage...
----
If you didn't get the gist of it already, in this game one person amongst the players (and I am open to this being a very large game) is trying to kill the rest. No one will know who this person is and it's quite possible the only way to save yourself and any you care about will be to take matters into your own hands and do some investigation.
It's entirely possible that the killer is a complete stranger or a close friend. None of you will know unless you can catch them in the act or piece together some evidence. Of course, once revealed, the killer may become more dangerous than ever. Of course, can you be sure you got the right person? Or that the killer themself isn't trying to implicate someone.
Oh, and let's make this interesting. There very well may be more than one killer. I'm going to go with one in every four players. If you wish to be a killer, you'll need to PM me once all characters have been created - and not before mind you! - and I will tell you whether you are allowed or not.
Actual killings, unless someone witnesses them, will be handled via PMs involving myself, the killer and the victim. While the victim might have a chance to fight off their attacker, assuming the killer is smart, it's very likely that they will catch you in a moment of vulnerability - maybe you're asleep, maybe you're showering, maybe you are simply walking a supposedly empty corridor when the lights go out...
Also, for simplicity, I'm going to ensure you're all able to meet each other in good order. This will take the form of a mutual friend who is throwing something of a little celebration - a reunion perhaps. Maybe you met the person in school and haven't spoken in years or perhaps you were a coworker at some point. In any case, this guy actually owns the boat and of course, it would be remiss of them to not throw a party for January 1st, 2000. Having met this person (and quite possibly some of the other player characters or their NPCs) at some point, you've been invited along, be it for the sake of old times or because you are a good friend, or maybe another person asked that you be invited.
Whatever the case, you are on the VIP list for this voyage. Of course, the festivities will soon be spoiled when the first victim is found.
Please show a valid ticket when boarding the vessel. Enjoy your stay aboard the cruise ship Lady Annabella.
