“...... it has come to this, the traitors have left us no choice. We shall break through and tear them from their tainted stars in the name and the glory of the Emperor. This is our destiny, this is our purpose. Ave Imperator!” - Closing statements of the Garrden Address
You are a captain of a vessel in His Imperial Navy, your vessel part of the newly formed Garrden Crusade into the Twisted Stars, to cleanse it of the pirates and heretics in the name of the Emperor. You are a part of Battlegroup Hephaestus, given the task to disrupt the flow of traitor materials through the Twisted Stars. Battlegroup Hephaestus consists of three Cruisers and two Escort Squadrons and is occupied by relatively untested captains, the crusade being the biggest dedicated combat fleet action in a millenia.
Each player will be given the option to select a class of vessel to occupy a 'slot,' with the vessel/squadron being a secondary part of the captain's sheet, as the vessels of the Imperial Navy are oft given long histories. Classes of vessels common in the Garrden Crusade are as follows,
Ships can be refitted to fit a slightly different role or have their systems upgraded. Any such thing should be listed in the quirks section of a character sheet and discussed beforehand to ensure a balanced approach. Squadrons in terms of quirks are assumed to be how the captains interact between the separate vessels or how the vessels perform.
So, I figured an explanation for how combat would be a good idea, since it was lacking in the original post. For the most part, it's going to a modification of the stock BFG rules, with some abstractions to represent a non TT interface. Each weapon mounted on a ship will have a designated strength value, range bracket and type along with a health, shields, maneuverability and point defense value for the ship itself.

In combat, each ship/squadron will take a turn, in which their actions will be rolled against enemy ships, with enemy ships rolling back. For the sake of abstraction, I will determine facing/direction, range and other such important information when it comes. Each player will PM me their moves for the turn and I will resolve the turn. I will then return a PM, detail what happened to them and around them and the length of time the turn was, as combat length varies depending on range.

So I've been mulling this over for the longest time, and so I present, a BFG styled RP. 40K ships in all their glory inglorious battle against the dread forces of Chaos.
A Tainted Perspective
He grinned, the servants of the corpse emperor were giving him a great spoil, a long convoy of transports winding through the asteroid field. He gripped the command throne of his beloved warship, the Murder Class Cruiser 'Ravager.' The Bloodied God would be pleased at his offering, and with a bark of orders the ship's engines growled, the entire bridge crew pulled back slightly from the change in inertia. He barked out another command, the tainted machine spirit responding by closing the sensor map it had projected, replacing it with a tactical view, his vessel a single blip approaching fast the long line of blips representing the convoy. To the port of the ship, a squadron of Iconoclast Class Destroyers roared to life, their blips identifying them as friendly.
As the vessel closed, his grin become a massive smile, his voice harshly coming over the intercom of his ship and his escort squadron, “Friends, chosen, those of us who believe in the Bloodied God or his lesser brothers. We have been given a gift to offer up to our gods! A gift of machines full of flesh and valuables that will provide us with a spot at our god's temples if we are to die! AVE CONGERIA!”
With that, the intercom closed out, cheers reverberating throughout his ship. He turns to his bridge crew before giving out his orders, looking over the misshapen figure of his pilot, the extreme bulk of his gunnery officer, the fused torso of his communications officers. With that, he spoke his orders, harsh and commanding all the while. “Bring us alongside the convoy, fire full broadsides at the central ship. Order the squadron to fire at the front and the back and to chase any vessel that attempts to escape.” With an affirmative from the crew, he began to laugh, laughing at how easy this task given to him by the Gods truly was.
