Just want to check, the 50 points we have to spend is over and above our characters basic race attributes, isn't it?

Grand, I thought it was, but wasn't quite sure. Cheers Darko!
Update for a taster of my character:
Username: Castiel
Character name: Einar Bruddskallen
Age: 34
Race: Half-giant
Class: Templar
Appearance: As a half-giant Einar towers above an average man like they tower above Halflings. He stands at 9’2”, with broad, thick limbs heavily bound with muscle. Dark, blue eyes twinkle in his face above a nose that has been broken several times and a thick, black beard that is kept neatly trimmed. He wears a full set of thick steel plate which he has neatly inscribed with all manner of counter spells and wards, and wields a mighty war axe in one hand and a large shield in the other.
Personality: Genial, but zealous about his cause and quick to anger when insulted. Distrusts magicians and wizards greatly and loathes bullies.
Background: Born to a half-giant family living near a human village, Einar had a tough past. Despite his size and good nature, he was often chased and tormented by the other children of the village, called a freak and spat upon by them and their families that were scared of him and his family, many of whom had lost family and friends to the vengeful half-giants during the Decade of Slaughter. The issue came to a head when Einar was 7. Already almost as tall as a full grown man, he was set upon and savagely beaten by several of the youths of the village aged around sixteen. It so happened that Einar’s mother came across them as they were laying into his prone and unconscious form. In her rage she grabbed one of the boys and threw him clean across the village, breaking his spine and leaving him a cripple. Despite that her actions had been in defence of her son against bullies this display of power and anger provided those bengeful members of the town with the excuse they had secretly longed for. They gathered together and hired a powerful magician to destroy Einar’s family. They came at night, gathering outside the family’s home demanding that Einar’s mother come out to face justice for her crime. Einar’s father bravely went to his wife’s defence, taking up his sword and going outside to face the mob, demanding trial by single combat. The village agreed and sent forth a champion, a spindly looking man swathed in a deep black cloak. They fought and at last it seemed like Einar’s father had the advantage. But with a muttered incantation the man suddenly began to move with a speed and strength that belied his frail frame. He trapped and broke Einar’s father’s sword, then with one swift stroke removed his head from his shoulders, to great cheers from the people of the village Overcome by grief and anger at the cowardly act Einar’s mother burst forth from the house, laying into the people nearby. The crowd fled, but the dark cloaked figure stood his ground. With a gesture he sent a whip of fire snapping towards Einar’s mother, the searing fire coiling around her limbs and binding her tightly. No matter how she fought, bellowed and twisted she could not free herself. Eventually she could struggle on more, and the flames consumed her. Dispelling the fire the warlock began to advance towards the house. Young Einar was terrified, his mother and father dead. He took to his heels, quickly fleeing on his long legs into the night. He was found two days later by a kindly priest, who took him back to his covenant to be taught and raised. It was quickly noticed how angry the young Einar became when magic was mentioned, and how eagerly he studied his lessons in countering magic. This led him to be sent to join the covenants order of Templars. Since then Einar has hunted down and killed many witches, warlocks and rogue mages, learning how best to counter their trickery and overcome their magics. It is his fervent hope that he will one day find the man who killed his mother, and then there will be a mighty reckoning indeed.

Oh, I suppose this is my fault for not clarifying. The Half-Giants aren't actually half giant, they're their own race, just known as that because they're the next biggest thing after actual giants.

Looks good, although I'm curious as to which race it was that they were living amongst and also why, if it were humans then it'd be highly unusual what with the events of the war and all (make sure you've had a read of the fluff thread!).

How long after the Decade of Slaughter is this going to be set then, Darko? I believe it's somewhere in the fluff thread, 50 years.
