Hopefully you're going to enjoy this too, you make it sound like it's going to be a bit of a drag. I reckon this'll be quite a bit of fun. One of the things I've learned is that if the GM isn't enjoying the game then there is honestly no point, especially when it's Nations-level amounts of time dedication required.

I have decided. USA it is.
And yeah, as for a map, just a map of the world in 1940 or so would work.

1938 is my vote in all honesty... that way we can atleast reorganize the nations a bit.

A few things of note assuming I'm going to be the one doing it (I haven't seen a consensus on that matter) Firstly, the setting will have to start fairly early (Circa 1930) for a few reasons. Mainly, the cusp of the depression puts most everyone on a fairly reasonable terrain, and gives a bit of leeway for one to nudge their nation in the direction they choose. I also want to avoid forcefully inputting major events like the rise of the Nazis or the Spanish Civil War. Secondly, it's probably going to be a rather casual game, so don't let the idea of joining/participating push out your other activities. EDIT: As for "who gets whom" on picking nations, don't get dead set on a single choice. Make a list of at least three. It's not so much that I lack the time or dedication, so much as I fear my style for this game may not be the kind those who are present seek.

I'm interested in seeing how you work in games, as I have yet to be in the same game as you Objective.
Casual is good, when nations get serious they lose their best qualities.
As for fearing that your style may not fit people's expectations, I highly recommend asking around for a co-GM whom you can bounce ideas off and consult with/share the work load with and thus increase the overall quality of the game as a result. Someone experienced such as HG/Warrender when he gets back would be good, although if not him Harrab or Warork would be good choices due to their extensive knowledge on the first half of the 20th century, specifically the world war eras.

Nice map but wont drawing out the specific borders be a bit irritating or are you going to possibly divide it into hexes?
