Hey guys,
This is a little notion for a game I've come up with as I've been getting into my Heresy era stuff and playing a bit of 30k lately.
The notion is that you are survivors of the Istvaan atrocities, fleeing the system and making for Terra in the aftermath of the Dropsite Massacre pursued by the Traitor Legions. Your band will attempt to fight their way across the galaxy back to the homeworld whilst performing what acts of resistance against the traitors they can, hopefully arriving in time for the Siege of Terra. Marines from any legion would be welcome, as there could be loyalists from the traitor legions standing against the treachery of their fathers.
Does this sound like something people would be interested in?

Cool, I'll expand the plan if there is enough interest

I like the idea. I recall that there was a long ago idea on the old site planned for a game involving a bunch of mismatched members from traitor legions and loyalist ones alike...all stuck on a ship adrift in the warp or somesuch...
Anyway it seems like it could be fun. Sorta like Deathwatch except there's definitely a bigger chance that all of these characters wouldn't trust each other and in fact might never trust each other. Some may wish to put aside their differences and fight for a common cause whilst others may be hellbent on destroying anyone in the colors of the legion that betrayed them.
You don't see many pre horus heresy games either. We once had a few jabs at a primarch game but that never seemed to sit well...maybe this one will have a better chance since the players would create the marines in question.

I tried running that twice, no one ever took to it sadly.. this was the original thread for it. I'd bring it back if I wasn't so busy of course. But as for Castiel's idea... I might be able to partake in this game. Writing for space marines is easy so it wouldn't be too demanding for me. I would need to read up a whole bunch on lexicanum to refresh my HH knowledge again mind you.

The notion is that you are survivors of the Istvaan atrocities, fleeing the system and making for Terra in the aftermath of the Dropsite Massacre pursued by the Traitor Legions. I'd like to interject that there were two different battles of the Istvaan system...at Istvaan III the traitor legions purged their ranks of suspected loyalists and the dropsite massacre happened at Istvaan V...I know that might be common knowledge but I wanted to bring it up because even I, a person who reads a lot of 40k fluff, was a bit hazy on the subject. Marines from any legion would be welcome, as there could be loyalists from the traitor legions standing against the treachery of their fathers. Well its kinda hard to have every legion involved considering not all of them were present...being in other corners of the galaxy at the time. I also want to point out that if loyalist elements of traitor legions are going to be involved then the events at Istvaan III has to be included in some way. Again...all basic information but its worth it to clarify the basic line of events so there's no confusion as to the game's central story.

Yeah, that was what I meant by atrocities, referring to Istvaan 3 and 5, although it probably wasn't very clear. I say all Legions as we know that some legionaries were often out on secondment to other Legions, so it may be able to explain a couple of marines away that way, although I wouldn't want to overuse that device. I had also planned to start the game in the next system that the ship breaks warp into after Istvaan, so it is possible that you could bump into legionaries from other legions there, for example the surviviors of Phall or any loyalists from the traitor legions that may have done a Garro and escaped. As long as there is a reasonable way to include the legion that works with canon then it should be ok.

So we have 4 interested so far. I'd ideally like a couple more if possible.
Just out of interest, what Legions would you guys be interested in playing?

Just out of interest, what Legions would you guys be interested in playing? World Eaters...which I admit was part of the reason why I wanted to talk about Istvaan III.
