So this is a project I have been working on for awhile, I'd just like to throw this out and see what everyone thinks. The basic premise is a sci-fi planet controlled by a number of rival noble houses, these houses enact their battles for control in a coliseum rather than open warfare. The coliseum is part business, part entertainment and part politics. Every year a tournament involving every house is held, at the end of the tournament the surviving gladiators from the losing teams are killed, forcing the losing houses to start a new team from scratch. Players will take control of one of the houses and must work to build and prepare a team for the next tournament by purchasing or winning the slave fighters and sparring bots and equipment for them to use, and then honing their skills and acquiring more and better equipment for them in weekly fights between houses.
The game will use a slightly modified WH40K stat system and dice rolls to determine the outcome of combat. This system replaces ballistics skill with throwing skill to determine chance to hit with thrown weapons as gladiators can't have guns, and leadership will only come into effect in certain instances that require a fear check. Teams will consist of 1 to 6 gladiators, starting with 1 vs 1 fights and gradually increasing in the number of gladiators houses can field as the game drags on towards the final tournament. As gladiators win fights they will gain xp, when a gladiator ranks up they will gain a random stat increase and at certain ranks they will gain a special skill or perk.
The game would be between 4 and 8 player houses out of a total of 16. Houses will place bets on the outcome of fights, bets could consist of credits, weapons, gladiators or other equipment to bolster your team.
I have most of the details worked out and would like to gauge interest and gather some feedback on the premise.
