Something worth roughly planning out is the general idea of how 'fate' is going to bring our characters back together. The main reason for this is to ensure it doesn't clash with anything Nepty has planned, while still allowing us to have an interesting player-driven prologue of sorts before the main action kicks off.
There have been a lot of discussions about it on here and off-site, and this is the general gist of it that I've got:
- Zeek (@cashdash) and Garen (
Darko) are in the same gang at the start of the game, so they at least vaguely know each other.
- The rival gang, led by a Hutt who is the father of the deceased Garvosa the Hutt (assassinated by my character, Garen) [who currently now incidentally has two names, Gorbula the Hutt or Doca Jiramma Juure the Foul, Harrab we should pick one], has a slave called Vias Vitarr (
Lord Harrab). This will no doubt put her at the centre of any conflict between the two gangs, seeing as her place is at her master's side at all times. No doubt she will run into several characters this way.
- Cam Lin (
coolyo294) is a smuggler with a ship. He can enter business with Vias' master who has a thriving narcotics business and arrange to smuggle them somewhere or other. This will bring him into the fold no doubt.
- Ch’iara Hoshis (
yumichi) and Ter 'Beast' Sorr (@judgedeath) are both mercenaries/bounty hunters. They have many options for getting involved here. They could simply hunt the large bounties on Garen (10,000 credits dead, 20,000 alive) and Cam (8,000 credits) themselves, or they could easily be hired by either of these two main gangs simply for their expertise with killing and/or beast mastery. Of course, if they go after one of the bounties, that kind of puts them in opposition to one of the other gangs seeing as Garen and Cam are both (or will both be) employed by one of the gangs, making them not entirely easy to reach.
- Kyra Rar (
Lin) is a singer in a bar, this could be a local favourite of one or both gangs, meaning she could easily meet several other characters who are simply relaxing in the cantina while she's working. Or, perhaps more interestingly, her sheet says she is an apprentice beast master - this means she could be apprenticed to Ch'iara or Ter Sorr who are both experienced beast masters it seems. Perhaps at the beginning of the game she simply starts talking to them in the bar/cantina she works at and she becomes one of their apprentices right then and there? Just a possibility.
So right now that's all the ideas I've got for what we could all do to position our characters in such a way they'll eventually all be drawn together one way or another as events start to fall into place. The two main rival gangs in this 'district' could do with a little bit of fleshing out mind you which no doubt Harrab, Cashdash and myself can easily do, I'm sure.
In fact, going back to the cantina that Kyra Rar works in - it'd be fantastic if we designated it as somewhere that's in 'neutral' or unclaimed ground between the two gang's territories. Would make it quite a contested point between the two officially, and also be a good place for characters from both 'sides' to hang out and quite possibly meet each other, or at least become aware of each other.
As soon as several of our characters are in one place however, it's important to remember the force bond they have... they'll probably start getting feelings similar to 'de ja vu' and end up thinking about their time with Master Kothari more until eventually they realise they all know each other from 14 years ago before they were separated and sold off as slaves.
Excellent character, Warork! I don't think it'll be too hard to arrange how your character meets many of the others... we just organise a local podrace that both gangs have stakes in perhaps, maybe both will try to 'recruit' her having heard of her skills.
Of course, a lot of the characters might well be drawn into conflict with each other first... which would be quite interesting and would certainly create some interesting interactions later on.
Just my musings, so that everyone is aware of the ideas floating around, otherwise this could get pretty chaotic in the beginning. Let me know what you guys think of these ideas, particularly those who haven't been too involved in many of the discussions about them (particularly if you aren't involved in the skype group). Agree, disagree, either way, discussion is good.
