this is a game we have played in the past. a collaborative story, where each person writes a single sentence to continue the story. usually ends up silly, no matter how hard someone might try to make it serious, but we will see how that goes.
there really aren't many rules, but i guess there is a handful:
1) only one sentence per post. 2) you cannot post again until either 2 others have posted after yours, or 3 hours has passed since the last post, including your own. 3) if, for some odd reason, you need to speak outside the story(maybe no one realized someone got ninjaed or something?), put you non story based stuff inside spoilers.
now, to start things off.
"it was a dreary and rainy night in the tavern, with few customers seen within the old, sunken walls, as the bartenders, a gruff old man, sat and washed out his cups, one after another."

"The loud banging of armored boots sounded the arrival of a group of the King's soldiers, doubtless here for the Inn's weekly shakedown."

The innkeeper, Snorri, grumbled and fumbled under the grimy counter for the bag of coins he kept there for this very occasion.

"as the doors to his tavern were kicked open however, it was not knights that entered into his home, but handfuls of flaming torches."

"Shouts of alarm rang out across the Inn as guest and staff alike leapt into action, drawing weapons and racing to extinguish the rapidly catching fire."

"before any could make it out, however, the door slammed shut, something heavy being pushed in front of it, forcing men to attempt to go through the windows."

"In the back corner of the common room one patron sat and watched the chaos, slowly finishing his ale before chuckling and drawing his shot swords as he headed for the Inn's back door."

Meanwhile a drunk was urinating in the corner.

"as the mysterious patron passed the drunken pisser, he gave the man a good pat on the back, before kicking the back door open, only to be met with the site of the entire town aflame, the light rain no where strong enough to fight such infernos."

"The strange man shook his head sadly as he walked into the street, this was the third time the king's men had burned a town chasing him, perhaps after he killed them for the third time they would give up, though deep in his heart he knew that wasn't true, his crime against the tyrant was far too great for that."
