Is this really necessary? Because as long as this system is in place, our growth beyond the current user base will be exactly nil. People don't join a site with no idea what actually goes on on it. Anybody interested in joining a roleplaying site will want to see the roleplaying games taking place on it and the quality of the writing in these games, as many of our current users did before joining up and remarked on when they introduced themselves; it's irrational to expect people to join simply out of curiosity. The only new users we'll get are the kind of people who sign up to every site on the Internet, who'll pay little attention to this forum and contribute even less.
What's worse, when a site disallows non-users from viewing it, people tend to assume that it's going to be full of elitist snobs, trying to keep the unwashed masses out. Yes, that was hyperbole, but the point remains. Plus, it's not as if there's anything on the surface to suggest that this site is professional or has a good deal of traffic, because neither are true. It's a small forum hosted using a free service with a low-res banner. Not much to entice people in except the quality of the RPs, which, of course, are now invisible.
The cited reason for implementing this system is to prevent plagiarism, which... does it even need explanation? It's a costly solution to a problem that never existed in the first place. Seems to me like it's just change for the sake of change.

I'm not sure this was intentional, should merely be when the new area's were created they weren't checked to make visible, will deal with it now. Give me 300 days as still getting used to the menu's

Give me 300 days as still getting used to the menu's I set it this way, as I believe it will encourage guests to actually sign up, especially seeing as how it only takes 3 or so steps. And if they have an account, they're more likely to use it. Trolly disagrees, however.

I'm in agreement with Trolly. Whats the point in signing up to a site if I don't even know whats there? Its a hit and miss, and miss is the more common result.

Righto, gotcha.
The only threads that are invisible are the Houses ones, everything else that was on the original PunBB website is visible and accessible.

They can see the site is active. So they are probably just going to sign up.

It's a little unlikely people are going to sign up just because the site is active, especially when they can't see what it is active with.

We should leave the RP threads open and the roleplay and planning sections open for people to see. But not the general discussions. This way people could be incentive's into joining the Forum because they saw a really cool roleplay on its way.

This I would agree with, if people can't see the roleplaying, they're not going to join for the roleplaying.
