Being drunk and trying to cast ramps up the chance of miscast. But apart from that there are no rules to what you do with your time, throwing a party is fine, but Inquisitors will gatecrash and keep an eye on you all. The Instructors will most likely not attend, aside from the dwarves, as Magi tend to like keeping their minds clear.

It wouldn't be very funny when the magical backlash from a miscast kills you and everyone else around

Gawain was drunk with power as he overlooked his fellow partying students, he giggled to himself as he began his incantations. After he was finished he fell on his rear as the rest of the students looked at each other in confusion, why was someone naked and dancing on the table, why was another one making out with an actual ogre, why did someone summon a greater daemon of partying they all wondered in pristine clarity. "Haha!" Gawain slurred, "I made y'all sober!" he drunkily swaggered out of the hall and towards his room as the others just looked at each other in awkward shame.

Although the inherent Magic within you is a constant risk @halo: made me think of Oracle from Batman

"Looking at the time Domenico's eyes widened in surprise, had he really been studying for four hours? Time to hit the hay. Without further ado the aspiring wardsmith shifted to his bed to sleep."
Thank you Lucy my man! Somebody who understands that night is for sleeping! Y'all gonna get in trouble being night-owls and all that stuff.
