“All things come from dust, and in the end all things are reduced to just that; Dust. No matter what we do, what great achievements we may think we have made. The fact stands; earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. In the end time is the destroyer of all and we to shall be nought but dust. The galaxy is covered in it, it can’t hurt to add just a little bit more” (Unknown-circa 2134)

Timeline (Courtesy of Darko)
2078 - A child is born on Earth to an unimportant family in Africa, with the surname of Milton. Despite the ravaging effects of the Varnaxian bio-virus deployed during World War 4 and the ensuing famines, the child survives its first year, displaying remarkable strength and mental development for one of the afflicted.
2085 - World War 4 is ended. With four billion dead, marking it as the single greatest tragedy in human history, it allows the species room to breathe. No longer starving to death, the world rebuilds quickly.
2098 - In a surprising turn of events, Africa becomes one of the economical power-houses of the world, largely due to a company called Milton Security dynamics, founded by a young yet genius entrepreneur. After barely three years it already owned half the megaprisons on Earth.
2099 - As the turn of the century approaches, humanity looks to the stars to avoid the terrible problems that caused the last Great War, chiefly over-population. Designs for a sustainable space city are finalized and colonies are established on the moon and later that year, Mars.
2101 - The Alcubierre drive is perfected, allowing for FTL travel. The space industry booms and dozens of organisations and companies launch missions to explore new worlds. Amongst them is the fledgling Milton Security dynamics. Too poor to compete for the favoured worlds, they made security contracts for the planets bought by the larger corporations. The CEO uses what spare funds the company has to buy up all of the dead planets and other unwanted worlds in a move that nearly saw the company bankrupted. The business world was sceptic of this move and many thought the CEO insane, while his peers laughed from their penthouses at this perceived fool's move.
2104 - There is a demand for a robust, efficient and mass-producible ship for further exploration. Milton Dynamics begins the construction of the first Sentinel class corvette in response. The design proves to be a huge success and a favourite of many crews, particularly on extended deployment. Spurred on by the success, the company makes a significant comeback only to spend all the profit on purchasing yet more utterly dead and useless planets, to the confusion of many.
2110 - Terraforming is perfected and a far-flung world named Fallow Prime is turned into a paradise world by Milton Dynamics. Having branched out into Security, Transport, Terraforming and now Labour, the company becomes the Milton Family Trust. It suddenly becomes the most important corporation in the stars, much to the chagrin of others. It does make some one ally however, in the form of the Dynax Influence who support and sponsor the Milton Corporations' plans.
2120 - After 10 years, the Milton Corporation has become virtually unstoppable. Using the hundreds of millions of prisoners under its control as free labour, it mined the vast unexploited resources on the dozens of worlds - overlooked as too expensive to mine in vacuums by other megacorps - it had purchased as they were terraformed. Resources are jealously guarded by the megacorporations and governments who possess them, drip fed to the rest of humanity. Some started to beg Milton to share its vast wealth and resources, many of whom had ridiculed it 20 years ago. When the Milton Corporation refuses, tensions rise and begs become threats. The Varnaxian Corporation in particular takes a militaristic stance, adding to its already considerable fleet.
2120-2137 - Dozens of systems secede from their respective authorities and war stretches from the Raven Stars all the way back to Sol. Exploration vessels are quickly outfitted with weapons and sent against each other in interstellar conflict. Pirate covens form, making bases on asteroids or remote colonies. Eventually a few powerful figures on Sol realised the situation is becoming untenable and, using their power and influence, create the Joint-Systems Alliance. The Milton Corporation and Dynax Influence are quick to back this organisation, providing ships, weapons and resources. After six more years of brutal conflict, the JSA has become too large a force to be openly opposed, having control over the core worlds. However it isn't powerful enough to continue reclaiming lost worlds. Instead, it forms a tight border, defending its worlds from the many secessionist worlds and pirate raiders that still remain.
2137 - Jolanus conclave. Within the JSA, the issues of the past 17 years are resolved in a great political meeting, establishing the JSA as the official government of the core worlds and formerly founding the Joint-Systems Navy. What had begun as a rag-tag desperate attempt to bring peace and stability to the conflict which would doom humanity has now become the largest government in recorded history. The JSN academy is founded on Earth, with minor bodies established on the most important outlying worlds. A number of non-JSA governments prevail by the end of the war, the most notable ones being the Outer Rim Unity and the Vanaxian Conglomorate.
2143 - Morgan Theodore Lex is born.
2145 - The Scarab Frontier border skirmishes. Neither the JSAN or the Outer Rim Unity can prevail nor are either willing to commit to a full scale war so soon after the last one.
2146 - Martin James Franklin is born.
2149 - The scientific scene is in uproar after Professor Thomson McGee's outlandish hypothesis of stable wormhole creation turns out to be potentially viable.
2156 - Krax Markoff is born.
2156 - Olin Hendri is born in one of the numerous Sol system asteroid stations.
2157 - Sofia Whitehall is born.
2158 - Professor McGee leads a scientific mission and attempts to create a stable wormhole. Although the wormhole is barely two meters in size and lasts for only 2.4 seconds, it is stable just long enough to send a miniature probe through, proving that in the future a more efficient method of traversing the stars may be possible if the technology can be perfected. Unfortunately the Professor claims it will not be in his life time, with projections showing the earliest will be in at least two centuries. Other scientists scoff and continue to study naturally occurring wormholes instead, though no probes have ever returned from any naturally occurring wormhole. The information transmitted from the experimental wormhole is so vast that it will take dozens of years for even the most advanced AI to process. Officially however, the test is recorded as a failure due to the lack of any tangibly useful profit from it despite considerable resources being used.
2159 - Morgan Lex joins the Lunar base Alpha military academy.
2160 - Construction of the JNS Harpy Vengeance, one of the first rugged Mk1 Interdictor Destroyers.
2160 - Jericho is born on Earth inside a prison.
2161 - Gordon Volkner is born.
2162 - Elllen Ramiraway is born in the slums of New York on Earth.
2162 - A source claims to have discovered sentient alien life. The media spreads this like wildfire after 'genuine holographic evidence' is released. The JSN sends a diplomatic envoy to establish first contact. However, it turns out to have simply been a hoax, albeit a well-fabricated one, created by a few backwater laser technicians that went viral on the Interstellarnet.
2162 - Martin James Franklin joins the JSN Officer's Academy.
2163 - Morgan Lex graduates, assigned to the 8th battalion of interstellar corps as an officer.
2164 - Martin James Franklin graduates from the JSN officer academy with high honours.
2164 - Nikolai Oktya is born on the mining world of Nelivgrad.
2164 - Franklin serves as an Ensign aboard a Mk2-B Sentinel-class Corvette, the JNS Wild Spirit. Promoted to Lieutenant for notable service and displaying leadership skills.
2166 - Ensign Franklin is promoted to Lieutenant for notable service and displaying leadership skills during the Luschtava cascade.
2166 - The 8th battalion of interstellar corps participates in the second battle for Alpha Centauri.
2169 - Lieutenant Franklin promoted to Lieutenant-Commander and given captaincy of a Wasp-class frigate as part of Squadron 93, 'the Outriders'.
2170 - Mordecai Pritt is born on Mars.
2170 - Sergeant Morgan Lex is promoted to Lieutenant.
2171 - Morrigan Hackett is born.
2171 - Lisa Carlton is born.
2172 - Jericho is transferred to a young-persons detention facility.
2172 - Sigma-B-21 is discovered on long-range recon. A dead world, the Milton Corporation adds it to their collection.
2173 - With Squadron 93 in drydock for repairs and crew reassignment, Franklin is stationed aboard the Destroyer Harpy Vengeance under Captain Simmons and promoted to Commander.
2175 - Top secret negotiations begin with members of the Outer Rim Unity on Miradon IV willing to discuss peaceful integration into the JSA.
2175 - The Miradon IV incident. A small escort fleet accompanies a diplomatic cruiser to Miradon IV, however secessionist and pirate forces ambush the fleet. Captain Simmons is KIA and under the leadership of Commander Franklin, the JSN prevails over the enemy despite facing nearly insurmountable odds. Commander Franklin came up with an unorthodox method to prevail over the vastly superior number of enemies in a difficult but effective tactic, named the Franklin Manoeuvre after the fact. It would soon became required reading at the JSN academy.
2175 - Commander Franklin promoted to Captain of the JNS Harpy Vengeance.
2175 - wide media coverage of the heroic victory at Miradon IV spreads like wild-fire. The JSN is quick to use this to its advantage, making Captain Franklin its poster-boy. Arguably at the height of his career and a charming young bachelor at the age of 31, he is an ideal candidate. Military funding is tripled in the face of the 'grand secessionist threat' and recruitment rates sky-rocketed, thousands of young men and women eager to be just like the good Captain Franklin.
2175 - Construction of the JNS Unification Primus. As the first Vanguard-class battleship, Unification Primus not only pioneers the latest and greatest technological advances, it is commissed for the explicit purpose of spearheading a new era of conquest from the newly-conquered and constructed JSN military strong point at Miradon IV.
2176 - Miradon IV is conquered by a huge invasion force led by Admiral Hastings. It is then transformed into the first JSN strong-point in the outer rim. It is used as a staging ground for future conquests and a large shipyard is build in orbit, eventually becoming renowned as the greatest in the sector.
2176 - Secessionist worlds along the Scarab Frontier fall rapidly to redoubled JSA expansion.
2176 - Jonathon McLaken is born.
2177 - Construction of the Lady be a Luck, first of the Mk2 Interdictor-class Destroyers with highly improved technology.
2177 - Sofia Whitehall completes medical school and enters a contract working for the Milton Corporation's security branch as a chief medical officer in the field.
2178 - Jericho is transferred to a maximum security prison.
2179 - Joseph Loric is born.
2179 - Gordon Volkner joins the security branch of the Milton Corporation.
2180 - A second Vanguard-class battleship, The JNS Heart of Midlothian is constructed to lead a second expansion fleet in the Scarab Frontier.
2181 - The Nelivgrad incursion. The mining world declares independence from the control of the Dynax Influence. A small fleet, led by Captain Jones of the Implacable-class carrier JNS Lord of Light. Nikolai Oktya is drafted into the defence of his homeworld by the rebel forces. Nikolai piloted a crude fightercraft and fought against the Lord of Light's strike craft, destroying two before being shot down, suffering extensive wounds.
2181 - Deborah and Jhon Parker are born in London, England on Earth.
2182 - Olin Hendri is imprisoned for multiple homocides.
2182 - Elllen Ramiraway joins the Milton Corporations security branch.
2182 - Nelivgrad is pacified and returned to JSA control. Nikolai Oktya is imprisoned for war crimes.
2184 - Nikolai Oktya's sentence is reviewed and he is given an ultimatum: remain imprisoned for three years or serve in the JSN. He chooses the latter and becomes a pilot under a probation sentencing.
2185 - The Scarab Frontier is pacified and falls fully under the control of the JSA. Over 25 worlds are conquered from secessionist forces.
2185 - Krax Markoff is discharged from service in a PMC in relation to the death of a comrade and is imprisoned. He is transferred to Sigma-B21 to join the work force.
2186 - Mordecai Pritt joins the JSN. Lisa Carlton joins the JSN.
2188 - Lisa Carlton graduates the JSN academy as a gunner. She is stationed aboard the Implacable-class carrier Lord of Light.
2188 - Jericho is transferred to Sigma-B21.

2190 - Morrigan Hackett is found to be a capable assistant to Doctor Whitehall in the field.
2190 - The 8th battalion of interstellar corps is disbanded, with barely a dozen veterans surviving. All retire except for Morgan T Lex, who is transferred to the newly-founded 47th battalion. Promoted to Lieutenant-Commander, he becomes one of the highest ranking officers in this battalion.
2190 - Olin Hendri is transferred to Sigma-B21 after imprisonment within multiple locations around the Sol system prove all fail to contain him satisfactorily.
2190 - Sofia Whitehall is assigned as chief medical officer of the colony on Sigma-B21, with Morrigan Hackett assigned as assistant nurse alongside her.
2191 - After the events at [CLASSIFIED] Morgan Lex is forcibly retired. The Milton Corporation immediately contacts him and graciously hires the veteran soldier, requiring a new commander of security. Morgan accepts and is assigned to Sigma-B21.
2192 - The Sigma-B21 incident. A colony owned by the Milton Corporation goes dark. No explanation is given and all information is classified to the highest level.
2195 - The Harpy Vengeance, now venerable and showing its age after 35 years of active service, is honourably retired but allowed to remain active under a custodial crew as part of the JSN for academy live-action simulations. Captain Franklin is assigned to the JNS cruiser Saturn Viper.
2197 - A transmission is received from the probe McGee 1, long since assumed lost. Although very weak, its location is supposedly at least hundreds of millions of light years away. Astonished, Thomas McGee leaves retirement despite his old age and immediately begins his research again. This time, he has the support of other leading scientists and the top scientific universities.
2198 - Deborah and Jhon Parker sign up for the JSN academy.
2199 - The JNS Saturn Viper suffers critical damage defending the isolated station Deep Space Seven during a supply run. Three pirate heavy cruisers are destroyed before the Saturn Viper is disabled and the JNS Luck be a Lady arrives, having been on long-range patrol in the sector. The remaining pirate ships are mercilessly destroyed.
2199 - Captain Franklin is promoted to Rear Admiral and given captaincy of the newly-constructed JNS Wroth of Ares, the third Vanguard-class battleship.
2199 - Joseph Loric is assigned to the old scout frigate JNS Wild Spirit on a reconnaissance mission to a star system known to have been under pirate attack until it went dark. Upon investigation, the one colonised world appears completely abandoned.
2200 - Jonathon McLaken constructs a prototype weapon that burns down the entire warehouse complex containing it. JSA authorities notice the young, but brilliant scientist and recruit him, posting him as a science officer aboard one of their starships that happened to be in dry dock in orbit, the recently refitted and repaired JSN cruiser Saturn Viper.
2201 - Jonathon McLaken is transferred to the battleship JNS Halcyon Dream.
2201 - Jonathon McLaken is transferred to the heavy cruiser JNS Imperator Wolf.
2202 - Jhon Parker graduates from the JSN academy as an engineer. Deborah Parker displays notable command ability, particularly during final simulation tests, attaining the best recorded outcome of any cadet, graduating with high merit and great promise. She is assigned to the cruiser JNS Delight of the Defenceless as XO.
2202 - Jonathon Mclaken is transferred to the frigate JNS Void Runner.
2202 - Rumours circulate that the head of the Milton Corporation, a mysterious and legendary figure, has died. After the media creates a huge story on it and certain worlds begin planning public memorials, the man himself makes his first public appearance in forty years. Despite extreme bionic augmentation, he is confirmed to be who he claims after every test in the book is run. At 124 years old, he is widely considered to be the oldest person alive. Although this claim is disputed by Anna Samuels on the colony of New New England, who says she is 157 and that her longevity is due to an extreme vegan diet and faith in God, few people recognise her. After all, the word of one woman on a far-flung colony means little next to that of one of the single greatest persons in all of human history. The Milton Corporation shows a great rise in popularity, though a few sceptics ask - has science gone too far?
2202 - Jonathon Mclaken is transferred to the research cruiser JNS Elemental Scion.
2202 - Jonathon Mclaken is transferred to the destroyer JNS Myrmidon.
2203 - The Raven Stars offensive begins, led by Vice Admiral Lazlo Jennings and Rear Admiral Franklin, codename Taskforce Delta. A fleet of over sixty ships enters the territory, filled with pirates and rogue governments funded by the Varnaxian Conglomerate - the largest rival megacorp of Milton and Dynax. Chief Petty officer Jhon Parker serves aboard one of the ships in Taskforce Delta.
2203 - Jonathon Mclaken is transferred to the cruiser JNS Vogue Soul.
2203 - Deborah Parker is promoted to LT-commander for exceptional work.
2203 - The Raven Stars offensive comes to an abrupt halt in the Caesar Nebula when the Varnaxian forces reveal their secret weapon: the first Titan-class starship ever recorded (codename: Hyperion), over five times the size of a Vanguard-class battleship. During the battle forty-seven ships are destroyed, including the Wroth of Ares. Hyperion is reportedly damaged during the battle but not disabled. The disaster is rumoured to be the fault of Rear Admiral Franklin, purportedly a drunken and incompetent officer succumbing to old age and senility. A media storm ensues and the military does nothing to dissuade the rumours. Jhon Parker is amongst those KIA during the Caesar Nebula battle. Rear Admiral Franklin is placed into custody for dereliction of duty, to await court martial.
2203 - The JNS Delight of the Defenceless earns a commendation for tracking down Hyperion to the Sarpedon system.
2203 - Admiral Jennings leads a new fleet, comprised of fifty-two vessels including the JNS Unification Primus, Halcyon Dream, Heart of Midlothian, Delight of the Defenceless, Luck be a Lady and Lord of Light to hunt down Hyperion. Their mission is a success and Hyperion is destroyed at Sarpedon II. Despite sustaining nearly fifty-percent losses, the enemy is entirely eradicated and the Varnaxian Conglomerate's influence in the Raven Stars is severely weakened. However, based on intel from operatives who infiltrated the system before the battle, it is believed schematics for the Titan were smuggled off-world despite the blockade after the fight, possibly in some kind of stealth ship.
2203 - Jonathon Mclaken is transferred to the heavy cruiser JNS Inceptive Conquistador.
2203 - Rear Admiral Franklin's court martial, three months after the battle of the Caesar Nebula. Nearly two-dozen captains as well as Admiral Jennings speak out against him, supported by over fifty witnesses from Franklin's own crew. He is demoted to Lieutenant but no further reprimands are issued. Many feel this is an extremely lenient ruling and through the media Franklin becomes public enemy number one.
2204 - Many ships are in dry-dock for repairs and crew reassignment, including the JNS Delight of the Defenceless, Lord be a Light, Inceptive Conquistador, and Luck be a Lady, as well as those which Nikolai Oktya,
2204 - The first Milton Crusader Mk 3-C is constructed. It is launched on the 100th anniversary of the original Sentinel Corvette, to whom it owes much of its features, being a highly-advanced descendent of that venerable vessel. The JNS [Unnamed] is launched on a new long-range expedition in an echo of the Sentinel's original purpose - to go forth and discover the unexplored.
2204 - Present day. The JNS [unnamed] launches on its maiden voyage into uncharted space, with a newly assigned crew. Deborah Parker is promoted to Commander due to a shortage of officers after severe losses in the Raven Stars and is made captain of the exploratory mission. Lieutenant Franklin is reassigned as XO, far from civilisation and any important JSN posts. Jonathon McLaken is ship-jumped for the half-a-dozenth time. Mordecai Pritt is reassigned from the Luck be a Lady after 15 years. Nikolai Oktya has been assigned as the pilot due to his experience. Lisa Carlton is transferred to be in charge of gunnery, able to do what might ordinarily require 3 people. Joseph Leoric is also assigned on this mission to assist Chief Engineer Mordecai Pritt. Although most vessels feature minimum crew, this ship is nonetheless a prototype and must be carefully monitored to ensure accurate feedback and smooth running.

The Megacorporation's
The Milton Corporation
The largest megacorporation that has ever graced mankind's existence and the brainchild of a great man. Milton Security Dynamics first came into power following the devastation of the fourth World War. Milton bought and rebuilt many and eventually all of Earths prisons, storing war criminals and petty crooks alike.
When mankind first started exploring the stars, it was the Milton Corporation that bought up many dead worlds and first perfected terraforming upon the world of Fallow Prime, which permanently changed the security firm to a multi-branching megacorporation. And when the JNAS was first founded, it was Milton that was it's major backer and often funder, a fact that hasn't gone unnoticed by it's rivals...
In recent years there have been attacks upon Milton's holdings. The methods and forced labour camps that the company employs have always been heavily criticized, but it wasn't until the Milton colony on Sigma-B21 went dark and even a blockade imposed upon the world, that they've came upon heavy fire.
The Pariah network; a terrorist group led by a woman claiming to be a survivor from the incident, claiming that Milton is engineering advanced bio-weapons, WMDs and participates in inhumane human testing amongst other things. Since then there has been multiple attacks by the group on both Milton and the JNAS (whom they claim to be an extension of the corporation) alike and many have started to question whether this is the prelude to a full scale galactic civil war...

Rogue States and Terrorist Networks
The Pariah Network A recent development, the pariah network is led by a women calling herself the Pariah and whom claims to be a survivor of the Sigma-B21 incident. The network has only recently resurfaced following a five year blackout, and have already claimed responsibility for numerous attacks across multiple worlds, including an attack at Daniel's Naval Academy on Earth and even a full scale rebellion on Bismund.
The Martha Confederacy A small collection of planets located somewhere in dark space. They have so far evaded JNAS notice, and remain independent. They are well renowned for providing a safe haven for pirates and smugglers however and thought to play a key in part in the slave trade.

Planets and Places of Interest
Earth Birthplace of humanity and the capitol of both the JNAS and Milton Corporation. Earth remains a sprawling metropolis despite the devastating effects of years of abuse forced upon it by its owners. Through the last great wars and years of pollution, Earth is a dying planet and its unsure whether even Terraforming can save it.
Fallow Prime The first world ever terraformed. Fallow Prime remains the centre jewel in Milton's crown, standing as a testament to their grand achievements and the possibility of achieving dreams.
Sigma-B21 Milton mining world undergoing terraforming, contact lost circa-2192 for unknown reason. Blockade in place by private contractor caution of area advised.
