OOC thread and stuff.
In this game, players will form a scout squad from the Raven Guard chapter. Except for the sergeant, this is the first warzone any of your characters have ever been in. You are not fully-fledged battle-brothers yet and in fact are barely out of your teenage years. You are still adjusting to your new bodies and abilities.
Despite your lack of experience, you are still fully trained warriors of the Adeptus Astartes. Your battle skill and equipment alike can rival or best that of even veteran Imperial Guardsman. As members of the Raven Guard chapter, you are experts of stealth, even more than scouts of other chapters.
Over the course of the game, you will be sent on a number of different missions, possibly across different warzones and even different campaigns. It is quite possible that your character may die before their training is complete. If they do not, then those who survive at the end of the game will have finished their training and shall become full Space Marines of the chapter.

Player name: Wark
Character name: Sevran Valar (Hmmm...where have I heard that name before?)
Age: 228
Class: Veteran Sergeant
Equipment: Combi plasma bolter with targeting system, Power Sword, Standard equipment
Background: Forty one standard years ago, brother Sevran was offered to the Deathwatch as the representative of his chapter in the Vermillion sector. He was successfully inducted by the following year and was made part of a killteam, that, despite being highly trained, suffered heavy casualties over the course of his service nonetheless. The reasons for his secondment to the "Long Watch" were many and varied; a few having nothing to do with his valuable skill set. Sevran left the chapter an embittered, prideful, and hotheaded warrior, distrusted by some of the chapter masters for what was seen as an unpredictable style of fighting the emperor's wars. In return, the Deathwatch forged him, after three decades of service, into a honed, circumspect killer, ruthless in his drive and unforgiving in his cold wrath. Not all has changed, however, as the now famous space marine veteran has retained his quick wit and sharp tongue which he relishes in employing on his new young charges. After his return, the chapter masters decided he could best be used to train new generations of Raven Guard; an especially important position within the chapter given its small numbers. Sevran may not have left with the complete trust of his superiors, but he returned with accolades and honors abounding. Now with his stability beyond question, he has been given the ultimate sanction; bring up the next generation of space marines, steel their minds and bodies for the crucible of a life of war unending, and grant them the experience to make the chapter proud...by any means necessary...
Other: Sevran is not the tallest space marine, nor is he the broadest, but his face is stern and handsome if weathered by both a long life of battle and age. Service studs grace his brow and his once long black hair is now short, forming a crow's peak on his scalp like a black dagger carving into a white canvas. He has long since aged to the point where the chapter's many gene seed flaws have manifested within him. His skin is stark white and contrasted heavily by his pure black eyes and hair. To the new recruits he trains, this appearance can be rather unsettling. Their mentor's wraith like appearance will be the least of their worries, however, and they too will become as such in time...if they are lucky, and if Sevran does his job right.
Character name: Solaro Fereni
Age: 21
Class: Specialist Scout
Equipment: Scout armour (carapace armour), Combat knife, Bolt pistol, Night vision/magnocular goggles, Frag and Krak grenades, Vox-bead, Survival rations and ammunition, Astartes combat webbing and Auspex.
Background: At 21 Solaro is more than halfway through his training as an Astartes scout. He was recruited from the Raven Guard’s homeworld of Deliverance at 14 and is undergoing the final parts of his surgery to become a fully fledged member of the Adeptus Astartes, needing only the Black Carapace that will allow him to interface with power armour to complete the transformation. Over the course of his training he has mastered the use of the boltgun and sniper rifle, become experienced in the use of heavy weapons and is deadly with bolt pistol and combat blade. His latest assignment is as Scout Squad Valar’s special weapons trooper, learning the use and maintenence of the more complicated and temperamental weapons such as the meltagun and plasma gun often fielded by the Astartes in the field. He has faced several of humanities foes across the galaxy, from the brutish Ork to the insidious Chaos threat, gaining his fair share of experience, and scars, on the way. He is cool under pressure, and has started to gain a good understanding of the tactics and manoeuvres used by the Raven Guard against the myriad foes of the galaxy, although he still has some way to go before promotion to the Devastator squads and the rank of Battle-brother.
His previous squad was all but wiped out in a lengthy sabotage mission behind the lines of an Ork Waaagh while infiltrating and destroying several Stompas. Only Solaro and his sergeant made it out alive and Solaro has since been transferred to Squad Valar to complete his training.
Other: Due to his need to gain experience in handling the myriad special weapons of the Space Marines Solaro does not choose one weapon and stick to it, but chooses his weapon prior to going into battle based on the mission and his foes , with consultation and from Sergeant Valar, to ensure he chooses the weapon that will be of greatest effect against the foe of the day.
Character name: Korbin Ingram
Age: 20
Class: Standard scout
Equipment: Sniper rifle, Scout armour (carapace armour), Night vision/magnocular goggles, frag and krak grenades, astartes combat knife, bolt pistol, vox-bead, survival rations and ammunition, astartes combat webbing, auspex
Background: Korbin's origins are rather ordinary, as far as members of the Raven Guard go. He was born on Deliverance to a family of poor miners and toiled alongside his parents until his induction into the chapter at age 10. Few thought he would survive the trials, but through a mixture of cunning and deadeye accuracy with a scavenged rifle he bested his peers and earned his place as a Raven Guard neophyte. Korbin has served alongside Sergeant Valar for the entirety of his career as a scout and has received all implants but the black carapace.
Other: Korbin's marksmanship is impressive, even for a Space Marine. With his bolt pistol or sniper rifle he is capable of making shots that most of his peers couldn't. He has even earned a marksman's honour badge, in reward for making a shot outside his rifle's maximum range that killed the forward commander of an advancing tau cadre.
Player name: Dev
Character name: Moradius
Age: 24
Class: Heavy gunner
Equipment: Heavy bolter, standard kit
Background: Moradius was born into normal family of miners working in one of many located in Raven guard's homeworld. Having been working around in the mines, he passed his initiation test due his ferocity and determination. Now nearly full battle-brother and just lacking his black carapace, Moradius has been assigned to work as squad's heavy weapon specialist due his talent with weaponry and relatively high strength.
Other: Has show decent talent for machinery and therefore has been marked as potential candidate for tech-marine training
Character name: Lorgan Scatha
Age: 22
Class: Scout
Equipment: Combat shotgun, carapace armour, frag/krak grenades, combat knife, astartes combat webbing, vox bead, night vision goggles.
Background: Akin to many other neophytes inducted into the Chapter, Lorgan began life at the lowest rung of the World's ladder, a miner born to a family of miners, and at the age of 11 he was glad to be chosen for higher purposes. During his trials, he demonstrated impressive skill in a variety of close-quarter fighting methods, especially knife-fighting and incendiaries, and was known for violently besting the competition. As a result of his affinity with such weaponry and tactics, Lorgan quickly adopted the use of an Astartes-pattern shotgun, favouring its brutal effects up close. At the ripe old-age of 22, Lorgan has already seen some of the many horrors the galaxy has to offer, and has seen enemies, from the insidious Eldar to the savage Ork, shot into bloody ribbons. Only a few years from becoming a fully-fledged astartes, Lorgan has honed his skills over years to be as stealthy and silent as any other Raven guard scout, and yet savagely violent in the face of opposition, a trait that in the eyes of his sergeant makes him well suited, one day, for being an assault marine.
Forget all your preconceptions of war, of battle-lines clashing in the churned ground. Your mission is to attack before the foe even realises that the war has begun, to strike hard at those vital weaknesses that all armies possess, but that no commander will admit to. Under my tutelage you will learn how to seek out such fragilities and smite them with every weapon at your disposal. Master these duties and I will have nothing more to teach, and you will truly be a Space Marine.
