I decided to turn some of my fun gaming experiences into stories, some will be funny and some will be dramatic, or at least as dramatic as I can get. Either way I intend to make them somewhat enjoyable for people to read so I hope that you will indeed find some of them enjoyable to read.
Story 1: I like the SU-100, it's engine deck is like the "dat' ass" of tanks.
"This cart's been burning for an awfully long time." tank commander Nachos said inside the relative warmth of his Jagdpanther, "It's all snowy and it's still burning."
"Why would it not be burning?" came a reply over the radio, "Don't you know there's a war on?"
"I am well aware of such things, but this cart doesn't need to continue burning." commander Nachos said as he ordered his driver to crush the cart, the flames remained despite being smothered by the weight of each individual track link. "Damned cart's still burning." he swore to himself after peeking out of the hatch to see what he had accomplished.
"Enemy is maneuvering towards the church." another commander radioed in, "Watch the alley and make sure to cover the hill. Scouts, proceed to the rails and search for any possible flanking motions."
"Aye!" came multiple responses.
"Well Nachos my boy, where shall we position ourselves?" came the familiar voice of Nachos' friend Doug, commander of a Comet.
"I'm putting my money on hill, we should be fast enough to set up a defense there Dougie." Nachos said with a sigh, "I hate hill."
The armies moved swiftly to their locations and soon radios blared with the commanders shouting that they've made contact with a member of the opposing force. The Jagdpanther hummed as it sat in place, waiting for some hapless foe to crest the hill and make it into his sights. Echoes of cannon fire barely penetrated through the hull as Nachos focused on his front, he could see the Comet had placed himself near the walls of the abandoned castle which had no doubt seen many battles in it's long history.
"Abandoning vehicle!" he heard come through the radio, it had been loud enough to relay through his radioman's headset.
"Who was that?" Nachos asked.
"One of those poor lights near the train station." Doug replied, "They say they have a large contingent of mediums pushing through the roads near it."
"Damn, I hope they manage to hold them off." Nachos said returning his gaze to what was in front. He sat for almost a minute as calls for help and reports of engine fires filled the radiowaves. He nervously questioned his use on the hill and whether or not they should relocate to assist their team. "Doug, have you heard anything about the larger vehicles on the briefing?"
"I have not, we haven't seen them yet." came a quick reply, "You think we should leave the hill and...shit!" he swore. Nachos saw his friend's tank shake as it tried to move, it's engine deck poured black smoke into the air above it. "IS!" he shouted as the turret brought the gun to bear. It fired several quick shots as the IS came into view.
"Lower, front!" Nachos shouted as the gunner quickly sighted the weapon, the tank shook as the round left the barrel and penetrated deep into the side of the IS. It's tracks spooled out, "Load, rear turret!" he shouted.
"A little help?" Doug shouted into his set.
"I'm trying! Come on, load!" Nachos urged his crew on. He could imagine the IS's commander, grinning at the prospect of putting a round into the Comet at point blank range. Then an explosion stunned the crew as the Comet's fighting spirit was torn asunder. "Damn you!" Nachos shouted as the Jagdpanther fired another shot, the round lodged itself into the turret ring of the IS. "Their turret's jammed! Quick, load another!" The IS's turret shuddered as it tried to rotate, the shell quivered in place undetonated as the torque of the rotation put pressure on it. Nachos grinned as he watched the defenseless IS sat there, then to his dismay the round dislodged from the ring and the barrel of the IS came into view. "Crap, reverse!" he yelled.
A loud bang rocked the Jagdpanther and the driver cried out in pain as the hull spalled and sent flakes of ragged metal into him. "Reverse, reverse!" Nachos begged of his wounded crewman. The gunner instinctively fire a parting round into the IS's cupola, if the commander didn't die he was certainly close to it. The gray machine backed down the winding road and came to a stop at the bend, "We need to rendezvous with the others near the church." Nachos told his driver, "Gun it to the square.". The engine was aided by the force of gravity as it barreled downhill at top speed, it would be clear of the IS's gun for the remainder of it's journey. "Relocating to church square!" Nachos called to his team through the radio.
"Hurry up!" a worried commander called out, "They're pounding us over here!"
"Will do!" Nachos called out as he planned an optimal route, "Down this ro-COM!" an enemy Comet had just turned the corner at the bottom of the hill as the Jagdpanther reached it, a quick shot from the Comet ricocheted off of the sloped front of the Jagdpanther as the German machine collided with it. "Damn, is everyone alright?" Nachos asked as he tried to sit back into his seat, his face bleeding from it's impact with the tank's binoculars. He adjusted his cap and looked out of the top of his vehicle, luckily they had forced their way on top of the Comet, crushing the turret and anything inside of it. The bitter winter air quickly turned his cheeks red from exposure as he groggily looked about for damage. "Forward, let's get off of this... oh damn." he said as he looked up towards the slope of the hill. The IS from before angled itself precariously from the ledge, it's commander desperate to finish off the wounded Jagdpanther. "Move" Nachos said quietly, "I said MOVE!" he screamed as the IS fired a round over the top of the tank.
The force of the shot shook the IS enough to loosen it's grip on the hill, Nachos watched in relief as the enemy tank crashed down the side of the hill. With an audible screech of metal the IS collapsed in on itself like a telescope upon impact with the street below it. "There is a god after all." Nachos said to himself as he climbed back inside, "Team, this is Nachos. We're on our way to the church, where do you want us to come from?"
Silence.
"Team, this is Nachos, where do you want us?"
Again no reply.
"They're gone sir, orders?" the radioman asked.
"To the church," Nachos said with a dry throat, "we may have lost but let's take some of them with us."
The cheers coming from the church square and the roar of the engines covered up any sound from outside the perimeter.
"That should be all of the opposition sir." the commander of a KV-1 reported to their team commander. "We're all here... they say one of our ISs went over the hill in a hurry to get here."
"Poor bastards." the team commander replied from the top of his T29, a glint of steel in the distance caught his attention. He brought up a pair of binoculars to survey it, "Say, did we have a Jagdpanther?"
"Yes sir, reported knocked out in the western corridor." the KV-1 commander replied.
The glint turned into a bloom of fire, "They've one left." the team commander replied as a nearby Hetzer exploded. "Last one boys, let's make this fun!"
"They're aware of us now!" the gunner said as smaller caliber rounds pinged off of the front.
"Take out that other Comet next, he looks damaged enough to be finished off." Nachos said as the driver slowly backed the beaten war machine into cover. "Driver, keep us at a safe angle to them."
The next shot from the Jagdpanther tore through a poor truck before detonating inside the driver's compartment of the Comet. More shots pinged off of the Jagdpanther. The T29 aimed at the tank's tracks and fired, the suspension was demolished and the tank sat idly as the gunner attempted to acquire a target. Another shot from the Jagdpanther returned the favor and destroyed the suspension of the T29.
"You should've stayed hidden you moron." the T29's commander called out into Nacho's radio system.
Nachos's chest could barely contain his rapidly beating heart, he searched for something clever to say. "What's the fun in that?" he retorted as the loader signaled that he had loaded his final round.
"True," the T29's commander agreed as the rest of his team surrounded the lonely Jagdpanther, "I'm going to enjoy this."
"Fire." both commanders said in unison. The Jagdpanther exploded into flames as it's final round set fire to the T29's engine.
"Put out that fire." the T29 commander muttered, "We're done here now."
