Several of us have expressed interest in playing Pathfinder, however I'm not sure if any of us have any experience with the system. In any case, if anyone did run a Pathfinder game on the site, I'd be up for it.

oh ho you need someone with experience with Pathfinder you don't say? I would love to run a game if there is indeed interest.
If so I'll make a thread. Have an campaign I've been saving when a couple of noobs wanted to learn and they bailed.

Excellent! I'd suggest just using this one seeing as it's already here. I've got the rulebook myself and I know most others who are interested have it too. You'd have to write out a bit of a guide to using the book I think, I mean, we could all get our heads round it given time but it'd take quite awhile. Plus, those of us who do P&P RPGs in this community tend to do lots of FFG40k roleplays, so it's a bit of a leap to adjust to a different system in a short space of time. Nonetheless I'm quite eager to try out a DnD-esque game.

Just letting you guys know that I play a lighter version of Pathfinder since it helps with eliminating the mechanics that just bog down, Combat is still entertaining and such. Just Let me know if you want more for Combat Mechanics, aka I will make maps and such and let you know where you are and what not, Or a lighter form where we just go off of basic idea like you are close to him instead of actual distance. Well a good start would be paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/gettingStarted.html it has all the books and its completely legal, since the authors are hosting it. I suggest that people stick to the core since alternative race specs and the other classes can take a moment to learn. Now the interesting thing is I've never played any of the 40K Games from Fantasy Flight so I have no idea how they do the rules so I can't relate the two. Now a good PDF sheet is a reasonable start, I prefer www.mediafire.com/view/sgsog6865uq6gif/Pathfinder_PDF_Character_Sheet.pdf since its an editable sheet so you can just save it as the character. It calculates a good portion of the sheet for you too! Now the first thing to do is fill out the information on top such as name, race, age, etc. Now Race has some points to add to certain attributes but I suggest doing that after rolling. The typical rolling is 4d6 get rid of the lowest die. So example would be 1+2+3+4, get rid of the 1, and your stat should be 9. Go through your stats and arrange your six totals in any fashion your in. In the class description in he site I provided they tell which stat is most important to each class. Once that is done go to Skills which is the list on the right, the class description will have a stat provided that will give you your amount of skill points. For example the Fighter Class is 2+Int Mod. The class description will also provide a list of skills that the class provides a bonus for. If you point ranks in these classed favored skills the bonus is applied. The sheet I provided should auto calculate the bonus if you click in the square on the left of the name indicated class favor. Now the class description should have a table of Basic Attack Bonus (BAB), Fortitude Save (Fort), Reflex Save (Ref), Willpower (Will), and abilities that the class offers. Somewhere above this table should be a number for Hit Dice. How it works is the die is a different die per class, for example the Fighter's Hit Die is XD10. Every Level you add a Hit Die so you roll your hit die every level to see your health increase. But I just do the full die since it can really screw you over. Then you go to your feats which are general traits that you can get that give advantages. Depending on what race you are and what class you are you usually get a feat per level. If your class uses spells you will have another table that shows you how many spells per day you can cast and what level spells you can cast. For example, you can be a lvl 1 Druid so you can cast 3 lvl0 spells and 1 lvl 1 spell a day/meditation. You have to spend a portion of the day purposely refreshing your powers if you wan to do more. This takes several hours to do so. On the sheet you will see a table for DC or Difficulty contest when it comes to spells. These act as the test you have to beat to use a spell. For example if you are in combat and you have taken damage while you are preparing a spell you will have to beat 10 + spell level + caster's ability score. If you do then you can use your spell. Then there is a table for income which is a Dice roll X 10, each class has a different starting gold. I had a skim read through on my phone, looks excellent to me. I actually semi-rolled up a character already in the past (can't honestly say right now whether it's the same PDF or not but I will get back to you on it when I/m on my PC) but it akso calculated certain elements.
The main thing that is difficult for me with learning this ruleset is that FFG40k runs on a D10/D100 system for the most part. I also haven't exactly memorised a good portion of the Pathfinder rules yet whereas my head is full of FFG rules from a dozen different rulebooks. Frankly it'll just take a bit of getting used to.
If I had to make my best suggestion - the simplified rules, in conjunction owith players PMing you their characters actions and you working out the rolls and replying with the results so they can write it up has proven to be the best method for RPs using dice systems in my experience.

Extremely interested in this, though I have one worry. How basic is that campaign? Because every. single. campaign i have joined lately I can play nothing more than core races and It's terribly annoying for me.

Well I believe there are at least 5, possibly more base races in the standard Patfinder rulebook. I think I'll be taking some manner of Half Elf warrior seeing as I have a half filled in sheet for one somewhere anyway.

I'm aware, and I have tired of all five. I enjoy playing the more bestial races, or just plain Different. Tengu is my all time favorite. Guess I just like being unique.

I understand that in some cases. Of course, true uniqueness comes from the characterisation and personality of course, as I'm sure you're aware. Of course, the imagery itself is just as important when all we have to go on is our imaginations, so that is another factor too.

I simply find the core races boring, that's all. And it's not hard to work in other races, though I understand whenever someone doesn't allow 3rd party races specifically.
