An idea that struck me from reading one of silence 's posts. Perhaps instead of putting up lots of thread in Roleplay planning we should have thread for each genre. Over a certain time period (say a month) if you come up with a game idea that you want to run you post a paragraph or brief summary of the game in the appropriate genre's thread. At the end of the time period a poll is set up and you can vote for your favourite game ideas and then the most popular few games can be run over the next month or so. It might allow lots of game ideas to be suggested and the interest in them without people putting lots of effort into creating a game that then doesn't run. It might also help increase player dedication to game participation. Any thoughts or suggestions?

A bit similar to this thread then? It could be done but then, having individual threads makes it easy to develop over time, keep info in one public place for the future to be potentially picked back up.

A bit, but rather than requesting an rp you put forwards an game idea you've had, rather than one you'd like to see.

I agree with Castiel, I feel it should be a game idea and not just one you want to see. Maybe they might not GM it, but the game idea makes it easier to develop instead of having to start from the ground up.

It would be quite a large shift in how we do things. Although to be honest if someone posts an idea, regardless of whether they want to GM it, if other people are interested in it they will comment on it... with this other thread idea they'd need to make a new thread anyway to discuss it and plan it so that the first thread wouldn't get cluttered. Seems like it adds another step in that overall would be a bit redundant.
There are plenty of alternatives if a person doesn't want to straight up make a thread for the idea for one reason or another. For instance, they could PM someone they know would be interested, or they could try mentioning it in the chat box, or use the existing roleplay request thread, etc.

Idk, I just feel people say they don't like anything, but then don't post what they want in fear they have to GM it. This allows people to put their idea out there and leave it to be picked up by someone who wants too, but also makes it so we all have a Rp that was can all get behind and enjoy rp`ing in. With everyone throwing ideas but not having a system of getting people to participate in them, this sorta gets people who don't like anything currently to throw an idea down and get it picked up and developed. It wouldn't take over, but it could generate something we could all participate in, instead of just what peaks our interest. We cant just post ideas until that person gets interested enough to join, so we get them to post it without the fear that if they don't GM it someone else wont.
