BEGIN NEWS REPORT
June: 2014
China
Country:
GDP: 8000 billion $
Civilian population: 1 Billion
Panic: 2 [(minor unrest) due to the 2014 terrorist attacks in xinjiang province]
Loyalty: High.
Army strength: 7 million
Air Force strength: 3,000 attack aircraft
Navy strength: 500 warships
Nuclear strength: Well armed (1500 nuclear weapons)
Actions
1. Funding for the People’s Liberation Army is raised and nearly doubled. This allows for more advanced weaponry to be equipped. Soldiers stationed in Xinjiang province, where a further knife attack by three more Uhighur terrorists (who fled the scene before being apprehended) left seven civilians injured and one police officer killed just last week, are notably happy about this increase in military spending. Furthermore, a large amount of more modern eastern bloc Type 99 tanks is sold to the Chinese military by the new international arms brokering and creating company ArmyMart.
(see world events)
2: The maximum on childbirth is extended to a shocking four children. While many lower class Chinese citizens are elated, and it is suspected that infanticide will drop by at least 70%, the upper crust of Chinese society fears that the larger amount of people and workers will dry up china’s natural resources, or worse, starve the country. Despite this, the western world seems to have mixed reactions, from positive statements about China’s new stance on this, to worries about overpopulation.
3. The superstructures of assault cruisers and several destroyers are seen going up at the Honk Kong Military Docks. This is largely glossed over by many news stations, however.
4: Flyers are passed out by volunteers in the streets, and several demagogues extol China’s new progressive leap forwards. The happiness of it’s population skyrockets.
GREAT BRITAIN
GDP: 2000 billion $
Civilian population: 60,000,000
Panic: 1 (no issues)
Loyalty: High
Army strength: 125,000
Navy strength: 100 vessels
Air Force strength: 4,000 attack aircraft
Nuclear strength: armed (200 nuclear weapons)
1: The first steps to pulling out of the middle eastern conflicts are put into action. British troops around the country all destroy their bases and immobile equipment and fortify the cities, where they plan to be transported over the coming months via helicopter, back home to the United Kingdom.
2: Begin greatly tightening the borders to prevent increased immigration, even though that's not a real issue, as the main objective here is to simply be able to control what/who goes in and out of the country and increase security.
3: The British police are restructured, some claim that these new “armed police” are modeled after the American police and SWAT teams. Their primary directives are to be active rather than reactive, and officers are issued firearms and weaponry equitable to a low-scale military. The new chief of these police, handpicked by the prime minister is well known for his devotion to the british crown and his lack of empathy for criminals. He recently sent out for several dozen American BearCat armored vehicles immediately after taking office. The new active force is trained by now unemployed soldiers back from the middle east. These new police reforms, and their recent shows of force are toted as being necessary to lower crime rates. It is said that these bolder measures are how people must be protected in the modern day, however renowned speaker, Geoffery Nice, derides these new officers as “Jackboots.” The name instantly sticks, and around the world, news stations are clamoring over this militaristic stance to public safety, though, it is undeniable, crime has lowered, especially due to the police’s military-trained instincts prompting them to take much heavier handed methods at law enforcement, such as shooting violent individuals on the spot. This has generated a slew of anger among many of the street gangs, though they all now seem to have gone to ground. Several citizens say that they feel safer walking the streets now, though others, particularly minorities put forth claims of rising police brutality.
4: Bank ministers and government officials have recently found their salaries greatly reduced, and the money they would otherwise have taken, is spent on public education, particularly in the lower-class areas of the UK. This has resulted in mixed reactions, with positive feelings from the lower classes, and rageful irritation by the displaced officials. Overall, the education system itself is overhauled, and teachers are heavily screened.
5: A new class of ship, known as First Rates, named for Napoleonic vessels of the same name are created, though perhaps “Battleship” would be the better term. The military looks into funding magnetic weapons for these dedicated warships. The main issue is that each shot warps the magnetic rails.
RUSSIA
GDP: 2000 billion $
Civilian population: 143,000,000
Panic: 2 [(minor unrest) due to the ukranian expansion
Loyalty: decent
Army strength: 285,000
Air Force strength: 2,000 attack aircraft
Navy strength: 100 warships
Nuclear strength: Heavily Armed (8,500)
1: The 20th mechanized guards army of the Russian military deploys to the border of the Ukraine. Furthermore, several Sukhoi SU 27 supermaneuverable fighters are recorded flying missions over Ukraine from the 6969th airbase. This is the first legitimate Russian military presence in Ukraine. NATO and the UN are shocked, and the Ukrainian military mobilizes several of it’s own armored regiments not fighting separatists to its own borders, and the tanks of these units and the 20th guards army glare at each other from across the border. One Russian fighter is shot down over Kharkiv, Ukraine by an unknown assailant, and crashes in a residential district, killing 300 people in the ensuing fires. (see world news)
2: The skeletons of giant buildings begin to go up in Siberia. This is a drain on the economy, and raises the question. “What is Russia building” They say that these are factories and industrial complexes.
3: A new army, the 35th guards is established, and recruitment is immediately begun. The west is very disturbed by this militaristic stance.
4: 12 new Kirov class battleships begin to go up in black sea military docks.
5: New ballistic missile technology is looked into, and some theorize using reverse magnetics. The design proves useful, though perhaps new AI, like ArmyMart’s new Warhawk AI (see world news)
USA
GDP: 16,000 billion $
Civilian population: 300,000,000
Panic: 2 Minor unrest due to the recent fearmongering by political demagogues, climate change and the ukranian expansionist war (as it is now called by the west)
Loyalty: high
Army: 2,300,000 soldiers
Navy: 150 vessels
Airforce: 5,500 aircraft
2. Landfills are replaced by recycling plants, many of which dig up the garbage and reprocess it. A transition between traditional power plants and modern wind and nuclear plants is begun, though some areas experience temporary blackouts while power is shifted or the old plants are demolished or repurposed.
3. In a new plan to create employment, a new sector of the workforce is created that refurbishes old and decrepit public structures and roadways. This is met with approval from most of the nation. Though some far-right demagogues decry this as useless, they are ignored by the majority of the population.
4. The terms officials in congress are allowed is limited to 3, with the new law referred to as the Congressional Service Limit.
5. Third party organizations and burgeoning new political parties are now considered serious, particularly with the growth in support for the Senatorial Party, who have a majority following in the states of Michigan and Minnesota. Furthermore, the first steps in closing the Electoral College are put into place.
6. NASA is merged with the US Air Force, making them not only directly more answerable to the administration, but also entitling them to a portion of America’s massive military budget, though this signals a more militaristic approach towards putting craft in orbit.
Israel
GDP: 200billion $
Civilian population: 7 million
Panic: 2 (they’re surrounded by people who hate them)
Loyalty: Extremely High
Army: 3 million
Navy: 100
Airforce: 700
1. The Israeli Army is mobilized and moved to the borders, driving a small force of Jordanian tanks from areas around the Golan Heights without violence. The wisdom of this is questioned, while the Gaza Strip still claims independence from Israel. The nations around Israel are enraged, and in response, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon all move their own armed forces into threatening positions.
2: Several mosques are built, alleviating inner tension slightly.
3: Public speeches by President Netinyahu raise public moral and reassure the people, scared by the recent developments abroad.
4: projects for the Telif Ar Snakebird assault helicopter, supposedly able to withstand a direct hit from anti-air missiles as well as mach fighter craft for speed, is unveiled. The assault craft seats a crew of three. One pilot, who flies the vehicle, controls the underslung dual rocket pods and the chin-mounted .75 Caliber 8-barreled minigun called the Pounce Cannon, which fires large explosive shots at a rate of 200 per second, and is designed to destroy anything it is aimed at in its entirety. The copilot is to monitor the long range radios and the distance attack systems, such as the single shot Javalin-12 remote-controlled Missile system, capable of launching heavy-payload (some say even nuclear) missiles from the Snakebird and striking targets up to 16 miles away with complete accuracy. The aircraft is expensive in the extreme, but deadly in the extreme as well. It also mounts a tail gunner, who manages linked, triple-mounted, 10-barreled 9 MM rotary miniguns for antipersonnel services. “and making smoothies” jokes the technician behind the vehicle, Yosef Arisif.
Germany:
GDP: 3000billion $
The simmering hatred of the people at Ms Merkel at her endorsement of the Russian fascism in Ukraine boils over when she recently made overtures to give military aide in arms and supplies to the separatists. In a move that shocked the western world, but in no means is out of keeping with the recent slew of violence in Europe, a protest in Berlin turned bloody when police paid directly by the Merkel administration attempted to arrest protestors, and they resisted. In the confusion, there was an explosion, and shots were fired, leading to a chain reaction of the “Berlin Massacre” a nod to the similar events in Boston 300 years ago. This violence resulted in Berlin rising up in violent protests for two weeks. Ms Merkel ordered Major General Villiam Kant, the third-in command of the german army under Leutenant Gen. Verner Freers, to bring 2 divisions of the Deutsches Heer into Berlin to reinstate order. Gen. Kant did so, but instead of arresting and providing shows of force, Gen. Kant’s armor rolled up the main street, backed by squads of infantry and protestors armed with lead pipes and clad in urban-fashioned armor like that seen in Keiv stormed the Bundestag and imprisoned Ms Merkel and her top subordinates, decrying her as ‘like Hitler’
The majority of the army has followed General Kant in this coup, and has fortified the ruins of the Reichstag as their headquarters, as they turned the Bundestag into a temporary hospital for those injured in the two weeks of violence. The army and police hunt down members of the former government and put them under house arrest.
2: A civilian tribunal of several dozen civilians is set up in the Reichstag and judges Merkel and her subordinates guilty of “Fascism” and they are sentenced to death by firing squad. A squad of the “New Deuscheheer” As many call the mixed forces of deserted police, rebel soldiers, rioters and urban recidivists executes them in Nuremburg with video streaming. The rest of the West is shocked by the savagery of this rebellion, shaken by the fact that such a thing can happen in their ‘own house’ as Germany is part of the western world. In light of this, the recent strictures by the British police seem prudent.
3: Rallies and celebrations abound in all german cities, extolling, among other things, the heroics of general Kant, who downplays his own involvement (though many suspect that this modesty is to ward off accusations of demagoguery) as well as the old empire and her rule, though as always, they demonize the third Reich.
4: The industrial sector is expanded, and arms production in those cities stabilized after the coup are put forth towards arms production. Most of germany, aside from the southeast is now stable under the new Civilian Council, headed by Gen. Kant, who was voted in by a landslide. The first steps they take are promise that the issue in Ukraine will not be tolerated, and to prove this, they look into something called “Project Kreigshund”, a military research project, and declare that they will not tolerate fascist Ukraine brutalizing it's people.

There is a riot in Calcutta, when a gang of roving Hindu conservatives gang-rapes a pair of muslim girls for dressing indecently. The riots escalate from family fighting and eventually spread. Newly elected prime Minister Narendra Modi does little to quell these riots, aside from informing the police that they should ‘do something’ about it, prompting anger from the west. Instead of dealing with these riots, he instead spreads anti-Chinese-sentiment in northern India and takes a pilgrimage to Pashupati Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal, where he donates a team of builders, electricians and thousands of dollars to build a pair of hydroelectric plants, winning him support there.

The Nestle company buys up huge tracts of logged lands in brazil and uses it to break into the now very lucrative arms business outside of American soil, without American restrictions under the company name of ArmyMart. They claim that they’re researching making new drones with a combination of pilots and advanced targeting and stealth AI, and turn out the first of a new line, called Warhawk One. The Warhawks are 8 foot long drones capable not only of flying and carrying low-yield missiles and a chin-mounted sniper weapon with variable target locking, but also of landing on water and most surfaces, and using unlinked treads. This machine is jokingly called the “cookie cutter” by many in reference to Nestle’s famous refreshments. No government has yet purchased these machines, so they are not battle-tested, but tests against practice targets provide a 98.9% success rate.
