I figure it's about time we had a thread for this seeing as so many of our users are fans. Thread rules: - No discussion of anything that hasn't yet happened on the show (ie if you've read the books) - Anything about the most reason season must be in spoilers, anything before that you don't need to have in spoilers as it's been out awhile (so if you haven't seen any GoT then don't read the thread, just go and watch it already!). About the most recent episode... Not the best ever, but perhaps the best in season 4 (so far, I'm not sure if it was the finale or not). Very good overall, I really liked this week's Brothers Lannister scene where Tyrion made some interesting comments on the gods and then the beetles, very interesting stuff. The Viper and the Mountain's fight played out how I expected if I'm honest, I always thought Oberyn would win but it was obvious that his lust for revenge and pride was putting him off balance, and not just physically. The mountain is not killed so easily.. although I've heard a theory that Oberyn's spears were perhaps coated with poison (the squire cleaning the blades could have had some on the rags, perhaps), so we'll see if anything comes of that. Also, Daenarys is silly. Oh, addendum. The Mountain isn't just strong, he is a terrifying monster in the loose shape of a man. Seriously, just take another look at what he did do to poor over-confident Oberyn! What did everyone else think?

Personally my most favorite season is still the first season, when everything wasn't shit.....
Robb was still alive etc.
Sean bean is still alive.
Personally I can't wait for the battle at the wall.

I think the best thing to come out of the last episode was undoubtedly this... I was right there laughing with Arya.

This is both hilarious and terrifying. The beetles bit is pretty accurate to how I see george RR. Martin and writing his characters.

No spoilers: So the last episode was pretty damn good! Not really any great surprises, it was fairly unique in that is almost entirely focused on just one of the many, many locales in the show which gave it an odd feel compared to the other episodes, but it needed that attention. Additionally, there was some outstanding camera work in that episode to really give you the scope of things and that was done phenomenally, although I think their CGI/extras budget must have run low because for the most part, the 'large force' in that episode really didn't seem that large (obviously very hard to represent and we may see more next episode, as it IS the finale, we'll have to wait and find out, or they might not even return to the events there). Also, with regards to the episode before this one, these reactions are priceless.

Let's not forget this great moment from the last series. Although personally, I think it was over-hyped. Sure it was brilliant but not as incredible as a lot of people make it out to be, if I'm honest.

On the finale: Overall very good, one of the more shocking episodes surprisingly. My mouth was agape for most of it. The pacing was a bit weird, and it felt very rushed and they missed lots of the best stuff out from the novels as readers will tell you. Brienne vs the hound was so brutal, good lord. It goes down as one of the best fights ever, despite it being absolutely pointless (but that's the hound for you, always ready for a fight and actually showing he'd grown to care for Arya). Also, Arya's silent, impassive stare at the dying Hound was... haunting. Seeing her on a ship so hopeful for the future was very nice though.. but it surely can't last. Favourite scene has to be Varys hearing the bells ringing, thinking well fuck me and hurrying onto the ship knowing he'd make an obvious suspect for Tywin's murder. Or maybe it was something else, I'm not sure. This'll clear things up if you don't read the novels (I don't, but it was all explained by those who do to me anyway): insidetv.ew.com/2014/06/16/game-of-thrones-finale-martin/On the upside, enough people have finally died that I just about know the names of everyone who's still alive. Also I was surprised Baelish wasn't in that episode for some reason.. I know there wasn't enough time to add him in but for some reason I was expecting at least one scene.

I am so tempted to open that last spoiler. Yet I must resist.
MUST. RESIST.
I still have to watch the last episode, and I have to wait for it 'till tomorrow evening.
Can't. Take... it. anymore.

Don't you click it! You'll ruin some very very good scenes. Also: Completely forgot about all the stuff with Daenarys in that episode. Seeing her pain at chaining the dragons... no good can come of that. And seeing that man carrying the charred bones of his 3 year old daughter... horrific.
