I think it's because on the old site there was an extreme amount of hype when I started up an IG game planning thread that was subsequently given over to Warork and Harrab. It had a lot going for it and then.. just never happened unfortunately.
Anyway, will this actually involve strategy/tactics that effect the outcome of battles and such?

Yes. Next to the standard way of roleplaying (as in anarchy in the hive) the aspect of strategy ans tactics would be important. Otherwise you wouldn't be given the rank of Captain if you were a bunch of strategic imbecils Hope this is an answer to your question.

Character name: Major Trask Vartunk
Commanding officer of: Thracian Armored Calvary
Background: A decorated officer of 41 standard years, Trask has served the Imperial Guard for 23 years and in numerous campaigns and crusades. He graduated with average scores from the Officer Academy on his homeworld of Vracred Prime, but started to truly shine out in the field when he proved he could be cool under extreme conditions. His actions in the Invasion of Tracid II won him his most renowned victory, but lost him his right arm and shoulder. He quickly climbed up the ranks and earned many metals for his actions after that, with most pertaining to his daring scout actions and flanking maneuvers, until he landed himself a commanding role of the Thracian Armored Calvary. This came to be when half his unit was annihilated when their transport ship was crippled during a surprise ambush. Afterwards the unit was disbanded and absorbed, with Trask being brought in to head up the Thracian Armored Calvary with his knowledge of scouting and tactics. Since then, Trask has served just as loyally and as efficient, earning himself a few more commendations and medals.

Equipment: Flak Armor, Bolt pistol, Combat Knife
Appearance: A shorter man with long black hair and built up pretty heavy with several tattoo`s on his face and left arm. Trask has a bionic arm and shoulder replacing his right arm and shoulder. He wears regulation uniform when not on the field, but switches it out for a simple flak vest and cargo pants when in combat.
Personality: Dark, Cold, and methodical. Trask is known for his cool thinking under pressure and is ruthless in his execution.
Other: Leads the sentinels in combat from his personal sentinel, The Black Rose (Autocannon).

Looks great! One thing though,could you elaborate as to how he got a commanding role in the Tracian Armoured Cavalry? It's a rare thing to have a commanding officer from a different home-planet leading another's planet's regiment. It's viable I think, but it needs an explanation. Also, you've been added to the list.

Appearance: A tall, heavily-muscled and imposing man, his personal strength is infamous throughout the regiment. When outside of combat (and not wearing a helmet) he wears his coal-black hair in a tight, long top-knot, which he claims is something of a 'warrior tradition' in his family that heralds back to the original wild men tribes from millennia ago on the homeworld. He also refuses to have his hair shaved like most military men, something he only got away with originally due to his intimidating nature.

Background: A warrior through-and-through, he is still in prime condition despite years of gruelling warfare. Born to a family in the rural areas of Thracia, it is family tradition for the eldest son to join the military, and as such he learned to fight all his life in preparation for it. His old uncle had served in the Guard as the first born of his generation in the family and he taught him everything he knew about killing and warfare, which was a fair amount. While he is an effective leader, particularly in direct firefights and especially line-breaking assaults, he is a proud man and is not easily given over to retreat. As such he has also acquired a reputation as ruthless, bloodthirsty even, as he will continue to march his men on to victory even if it means suffering horrendous casualties. I wanted to make the game very story driven and epic as I felt the life and times of guardsmen are never appropriately explored. It became too big for me to accomplish in short...and I had some RL issues to work out and then the site died and...yeah...things happened. But I really like what Scrazz is doing here. Its one of those ideas that I'm not sure why I didn't come up with it myself. Dibs on Recon company!

Background: Born into middle class family , Kruger enlisted into the PDF after completing his studies at engineering at local academy where he was assigned into officer training after being picked from other recruits during boot camp. After his training he was deployed into PDF engineering unit where he served for few years before he and his unit was merged into newly formed Guard regiment where he was tasked with command of the Pioneer detachment.

Appearance: Fairly lean man with clean shaved head, Kruger generally prefers to stay under radar and tends to wear minimal required amount of decorations and markings leading him to be occasionally mistaken to be rank and file trooper after heavy combat. Other than that, he has been forced to replace his left eye and part of his face with bionics after training misfire.
Other: Is heavy iho-stick smoker
