New EnemyDuelist CaptainEquipment: Gladiatorial Plate. Duel Longsword, Throwing Knives Traits: Make Weakness your Strength. (attacks to obvious weak-spots will be parried) Parry. (can Knock aside attacks from the front) Riposte (after a Parry will instantly counter attack) Prideful (if taunted, will attempt to disarm the warrior and Riposte) Duelists are a special rank within the overlords forces. With the higher ranks often filled with demonic and powerful mortal minions of their master, regular solders must look for other avenues to prove themselves worthy of their master's favor. Those who are unwilling to wait and toil under a Captain often become Duelists. Duelists entertain the common soldiers in arena fights to the death and those that survive and impress are in with a chance to join the Overlord's Assassins, a position of enviable favor to those without magical skill or chance to prove a tactical mind. it is a matter of Pride that duelists do not hide within full suits of plate and cover their skin, a chest unmarked by scars is a sign of a skilled duelist unafraid of anything an enemy could throw their way and many devise their own combat style to take advantage of any attacks on this perceived opening. many a warrior has thought to plunge his blade into an unarmored chest only to have his weapon knocked aside and his thoat cut in a single fuild motion.

May be helpful to have a game companion, or at least keep all the stuff on the enemy forces in one post for easy reference.

Well, with the first real fight of the Rp rapidly approaching I'm going to explain how combat in this game will work.
To put it simply, its narrative, and i as GM get the final say. Players can post what they want their chracter to do and then i will post the effect and the NPC response. I will for the sake of speed allow basic mooks to be murdered in a player post, if theres only a couple and nothing remarkable happening.
In effect, players get one action per combat post, and they can only act again after i post the responce
I will also head each combat post with a rough idea of how everyone involved is fairing for easy reference.
For example:
Player A Posts how they Attack Enemy A Player B posts how they try and attract enemy attention with Taunts Player C casts an AOE spell at the largest bunch of enemies.
(These actions happen at more or less the same time, unless players say otherwise, IE player B says" A's in trouble, I'll get them bunched up, then you hit them with magic")
GM posts Enemy A dying, how the remaining enemies switch their attention to player B, and most of the enemy falling to player C's spell.
Players can then post again.
I will also head each combat post with a rough idea of how everyone involved is fairing for easy reference. So you can check the top of eatch Combat post to see how injured you, your allies or an enemy of note is.
Example
Player A: Moderately Wounded Player B: Uninjured Player C: Uninjured, Tired
Boss A: Injured, Frenzied,
Injury State ranged from Uninjured, to Near Death, to Dead. after a combatant reaches Dead status, they'll be removed from the combat post info, so if you can't see an enemy there, it's not an immediate concern anymore.
Hope that makes sense. yes the system relies on you grinding your teeth until i get around to posting, but at the very least it means things progress at a rate i set and encounters can be a challenge for everyone.

Sounds pretty standard for a narrative game. Now to await my chance to magic hords of enemies away.

well coolyo is injured...and I posted my own response. You're a cleric right? Maybe heal Coolyo while me and the battlemage distract the duelist?

Lets not kill her, I mean aren't we all good guys, it sounds more just to not murder her in my opinion.

what do you propose we do? tie her up and wait for someone to come along and release her? She's evil...hence the evil bad guy prison with torture and stuff...we shouldn't really think twice about offing a few of these guys on our way out...we'll probably be doing a lot more of that as we go on.
