Hello all. I've decided after my many hours of playing War Thunder and after accumulating quite a few decent replays to show off that I'm going to forward that bit of combat recording to you lot for your pleasure and scrutiny. I've never tried uploading anything to Youtube but as they say there's a first time for everything.
Today's battle features me in my trusty Bf-109 model G6 pitted against a Mk 22 Spitfire also known as a Griffon.
As you can see from the video, I actually started out under him. I was already pretty high up...about 6k meters...but the spitfire was higher still...fortunately for me I had some team mates in the area who were willing to lend a hand (a rarity in this game and as much reason to be recorded as any other I assure you.)
The cat and mouse game quickly takes a turn for the worse when the Griffon finds my six and sticks to it...at this point all I have going for me is the fact that my team mates are constantly harassing him and I put my 109 into a diving spiral to try to keep my ass out of his crosshairs. It actually works! A couple of my team mates shoot past the Griffon and try to get his attention off me or catch him with a good deflection but none of them manage to score a hit.
Then the Griffon makes a fatal mistake...he turns off my tail to go after another German plane. But as they say...never turn your back on an opponent. From there its just a matter of getting glued onto his tail and waiting for the perfect moment (much harder to do than you'd think really.)
Honestly, I was surprised as anyone else when that Spitfire went down in flames...just a half minute before I thought I was dead meat! But that's what the Germans call " Kriegsglück."
