Doubled over, Milo grabbed his gut. "Ah, Thunder, not Lightning. My mistake, at least you didn't use the other end."
Someone had volunteered to read, "Thank you." he said through gasps. Milo produced the scroll and handed it to Sorelia, "If you would. Out loud please."

"She. Who. Walks. With. Thunder."The barbarian riflewoman hissed each word, "I am not the Thunder the weapon calls, nor am i that which splits the sky in storms. What is it about who i am that confuses you so?"

"Well, she-who-walks-with-thunder," Milo copied blandly, "Most people with really, really long names ushually have a shorter one for when they need to be called quickly. She who walks with thunder isn't easy to say when some scary thing is after you. So, you should really consider a fighting name, one people can yell easily. "
He looked at the odd rifle user, "So what shall we call you when we do not have the time to say She who walks with thunder?"

Iulius had had enough, he banged an armored fist against the side of the carriage, "Enough Thunder Walker." He growled, " If Milo has wronged you you may duel him when we arrive at Settletown, this is not the time nor the place for arguments." Irritated at his companion's collective lack of professionalism he shouted out side the carriage door, "Garth! Get your ass in here before you get left behind!" Leaning back in his seat he addressed Sorelia in a much softer voice, "Would you kindly read the note and thus alleviate the irritation these two are causing?"

Garth whistled a jaunty tune as he rifled through the crossbowman's pockets. Looting was the oldest and noblest of battlefield traditions and one he always enjoyed. Of course, there was not too much to find on the grimy bandit. Just a few dennys which he pocketed, a grimy token of some woodland god, and most ghastly of the bunch a necklace made of human teeth. The mercenary grunted in disgust.
Satisfied he had taken everything of worth from the bandit's corpse, Garth ripped a long strip of cloth from its trousers and wiped the blood from his sword. At Iulius's call he stood up and resheathed the massive blade.
"Sorry about the pants, mate. And the arm." Garth said with a crooked smile. He patted the corpse sympathetically on the shoulder. "I'm sure you'll get over it."
Then he turned and headed back to the carriage.
"Have no fear comrades, I'm back." He proclaimed as he hauled himself into the carriage.

"Heh, I'm pretty sure that duelling isn't allowed in the town." Milo said quietly. "Excellent joke."

" "Blame your clumsy common tongue then,"she replied, now cleaning her weapon, " i will not suffer outsiders butchering who i am for convenience, nor i am your cheiften to explain a battle cant to you. Call me by name and i will know you require to speak to me." "Enough Thunder Walker." Iulius growled, " If Milo has wronged you you may duel him when we arrive at Settletown, this is not the time nor the place for arguments." To the surprise of everyone, She who walks with thunder blushed hotly at his words, then coughed. "I-, I understand your intention, Tribune Iulius Praetorius, and i agree somewhat, but i would also prefer you did not use that version of my name either, among my people it suggests... well, let us say we have not been so intimate, and you so submissive, yes?" She coughed again, and looked away as Garth entered the carriage, then finally, begrudging she spoke again, "If it will stop you from mangling my culture, I will devise a Battle Cant for you outsiders to use, but for now please just use my Name as i told you."

After waiting for She-Who-Walks-With-Thunder to finish her strange ritual with the dead man, Soreila had her turn with the corpse.
Armor however, takes time, precious seconds in droves, to fully take off, and so before she was done the Carriage driver forced her hand in leaving the rest, if the atmosphere hadn't done it itself.
<><>
Garth enthusiastic search of the crossbowman yielded some loot, disturbing in its intentions for some of it, but also strange. A Black gem, seeming to eat the light around it.
With time short, he simply pocketed all he could, and ran to the carriage.
<><>
The Carriage suddenly started up as Garth, the last man needed, hopped on. Like always, the hasty old man had not given everyone time to get situated, pushing the horses to their very limit as they started up.
Jakobe seemed nervous, as talk of the note spread and it was handed to Sorelia to read. She took note of the symbol in the wax, one of strength, authority, and in a place such as this, suspension. Opening it she started to read, only to frown deeply, a disturbed and surprised look crossing her face.
“”Dear Jakobe Hollinc,””
“its....i cant....just.....take a look.....” she said simply, turning it around for all to see. Sure enough, the language it was in was strange....no....shifting. Vile, creeping, darkness moved across the page, ever shifting and changing, as it seemed to chase and eat what little light seeped into the Carriage .
“HMPH” the carriage driver suddenly spoke up. “don't bother with it, we been finding those notes on people for too long now. Dark magic is in those notes, stuff that I don't think the Gods of the Triangle would approve of. Best to burn it...although warn me if you do, ill need hand out some wax to stuff our ears, thing....screams, while it burns...”
Slowly, a dark silence fell over Carriage, until Jakobe finally broke it.
“Actually.....if.....if you have the right equipment.....its......technically....readable but.....i wasn't allowed to keep it, the equipment I mean.....and it....hurts to use it.....bad...bad things happen if you do......” Jakobes eyes were now shut tight, as he seemed to be terrified out of his mind at whatever he was remembering.

"Its a good thing we might find some who don't believe in the triangle then. But where did you get the scroll and the equipment then?" Milo asked Jakobe.
"And sir, do you know if anyone's ever asked the other scroll owners where they got their scrolls from? Someone has to be sending them out and if they're all the same then they should all have the same source. That would at least solve the bandit problem."

Iulius was deeply disturbed by this revelation, magic was a powerful tool, one that no human he was aware of had yet to possess. He carefully took the note from Sorelia and placed it in his bag, "As the most studious of our group, I think it would be wise if I take charge of this object. For now, let us not speak of it." He glanced at Jakobe, "We can deal with this, and its owner when we arrive at Settletown."
