Everyone knows what happened. Everyone knows the date. Everyone knows why the world stopped spinning on that Tuesday morning in September of 2001. In all the years since I have never seen this particular tribute and I figure maybe a few people who go on this site haven't either... May we never see a day like this again.

Why does Doctor Doom care about 9/11?
He's killed and plans to kill thousands, possibly millions of people as part of his goal to take over the planet and his ridiculous over the top plan to commender the human race. Maybe he's crying because it's a shoddy plan. He's thinking he could have done it better and his opportunity has been stolen from him.
Magneto probably is just having memory issues and thinks its just Kristallnacht.

Perhaps because in his mind, people who die as a result of his plans at least die for his 'cause' whereas 9/11 was, in his opinion, pointless and senseless?

Doom doesn't care about these kind of things, while in all regards it's just 3000 people. It's pretty minor considering what Dooms planning. Doom wouldn't care. It's just a cheap and forced scene.

Perhaps, but it's obvious why it was done and I think most people won't be bothered by it considering its purpose is purely to show respect to those who died. I imagine it's not actually got anything to do with Doom himself - it's just about representing the fact that all Americans were brought together by that tragedy regardless of their differences.

Only a total fantasist would think they'd produce that. Neither appeal to the major audience while this is just an exploitation piece. I'd also debate that 9/11 is important outside of America. It's been 14 years and people have largely moved on, outside of America. I didn't see a single news report about it here. While overall the greatest tragedy of 9/11 is no one got caught and that the people responsible got out scot free. Spiderman beating up some CIA goons while fighting George Bush (armed with twin UZI's and draped in a Israel banner) would be pretty cool though.

Oh boy this is asking for an "interesting" political debate.
