If this was true I'd be the biggest basket case on the site. Everything wrong with this article and book
- People approach things in different ways. For me dwelling on the past and things I can't control is natural because I'm an introverted thinker. Doesn't make me weaker than someone who doesn't. The only thing that defines your strength is how you let it stop you.
- Trying to impose your own ideas and will on others is what makes you weak. Psychologists and therapists don't say "You're depressed and that's final." They ask "why do you think you're depressed" and give their own opinion. This writer trying to say "This is what makes someone weak or not," is to me, very clear indication of a need to be in control and be heard, or make a quick buck off a shitty book.
- You control your own strength. A person is as strong or weak as they choose. Sometimes they need help making that choice, but arbitrary terms of weak and strong are inconsequential as there is no way to compare one person to another in terms of mental strength.
