It's basically FTL then? I would prefer non-stat game but eh. As one might expect, after all it is FTL-inspired. Re-read the last post, I added some stuff and skills/stats will likely be confined to ship stuff with actual character stuff being done normally.

This seems interesting, as for how FTL works, I`ve never played it and only seen limited gameplay of it, but I`d be interested if its ships are what you want them to be aesthetically, but in the end still divided into the same modular pieces that all ships must have. I guess it comes from my bias towards lack of choice, but FTL always seemed limited in its ship types. I`m not the GM though, so I don't want to sway this towards just my fancy, nor do I want to take it over.

What kind of tech level does this thing run on?
As in how common energy weapons, cybernetics and so on are.

Simply because this has a fair bit of interest I'll look into getting this going at some point soon, hopefully keeping it simple and with a minimum of fuss. I also won't be playing a captain NPC this time, so we'll have to work out how that one works on the go. Presumably a PC captain, or just have a crew that votes on what to do or what have you.
As for questions like what tech level, this will just be a sci fi blast so pretty much fancy as hell, ie if it's been done by some other honest to god excellent sci fi then why not borrow it for this in some form. Lasers and such.

It'll be a bit of a mix between FTL and the Fleet Command rules I think. So it shouldn't get too bogged down in ship combat.
