I was re reading the early pages a bit and it's interesting because yorck often took the lead on things or taking charge in a moment because of his experience and quick thinking possibly as favro would have, but not necessarily having the ability to lead people as well. But he's also had some moments of gravitas and solemn introspection as well that I really liked.
In any case if we think of some of these posts happening simultaneously they might have heard him but rook and talk are already charging the daemon and screaming their lungs out as he is speaking so there wasn't time to respond necessarily.

I mean yeah but honestly what's left for us to do? All our remaining firepower went into that explosion. Some of us are dead or wounded, we're down to laspacks and power weapons and the daemon is still very much alive.
This is very much a "die standing" moment. We're officially out of aces up our sleeves...at least the Alterrans are.

Honestly one thing I didn't think of was trying to flank the thing, but I'm suspecting it takes up the entirety of the bridge. Otherwise firing into it's insides from behind is an idea.

Yeah, I took the view that being so close to the blast had knocked out Falk's hearing and he'd basically be done for from the burns sustained if it was not for the combat stimms, so he was trying to use what little he had left to afford you guys an opening to finish the daemon, or at least slow it enough for the techpriest to do what he needs to.

Honestly one thing I didn't think of was trying to flank the thing, but I'm suspecting it takes up the entirety of the bridge. Otherwise firing into it's insides from behind is an idea. Apologies if I didn't describe it clearly, the bridge was ten steps from the entry and your characters were at the edge of it at the time, so while it would only be seconds away from reaching it it isn't on it yet and the bridge itself is quite long - it's 40k after all so the scale of everything is unnecessarily big of course! So you could flank it certainly especially if it was already engaged as it can't use all it's limbs to fight without falling over which would look rather silly. Although it does also have a rather nasty bite... Edit: and to either side of the entrance down aways are various ladders and stairs or winding bridges connecting to all the various strange platforms and walkways all above and around and below the reactor, although with the damage it's a precarious journey to reach the top. Time is s factor given that the reactor is overloading with 300% power until it is released to spread the radiation across the world killing all life on the surface. A giant ancient warp conduit going boom is likely to be as bad as the daemon getting right into it anyway! I'll do a follow up when draxy's posted and I've asked coolyo on discord if he fancies hopping in at the end but I suspect he might not be fussed at this point.

Eh, the die's already been cast at this point. No point in wondering about tactics now, we all made our choices I guess. I certainly made mine. If someone survives? Great. If they all die? Well, that's the Guard life, baby.

It's the beginning of the end...
I'll post again soon but I ran out of time so I'm breaking it up into two posts. Just thought I'd put something up for you all to read now!

Well...we got the warp reactor bomb off I guess that's all that matters in the end. That was a gnarly post, Darko. Really gave me some John Carpenter's The Thing vibes with descriptions of...uhhh, Mendez' death I guess.
Damn, poor Mendez, poor Jagah, not a good way to go for either of 'em.
I await the next post with baited breath!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I cut it a lot shorter than planned but I'll be expanding on what I didn't have time to write in my followup. I just knew I'd be spending all tonight at the beach then watching various shows coming out so I wanted to get something up in the mean time. To be compared to the thing is high praise indeed! Absolutely love that movie since I was a kid.

Its actually funny when you think about it. Rook can't see so he has no idea the gribbly daemon thing he just punched into oblivion was Mendez and Jagah. That's gonna be a fun conversation if him and Crow live past the next 60 seconds
