With the exciting Star Wars game starting soon, I thought I'd run my own little game returning to the roots of our community, the warhammer 40,000 universe. (for those uninterested in star wars or simply craving more games)
In this RPG, you are Inquisitorial Acolytes - the agents and retinue of Inquisitor Castella Severine of the Ordo Hereticus. Plot details will be in the forthcoming IC thread.
Maximum players:6 10/10
You are free to pick from a wide range of henchmen types, be they well-known ones such as a typical Tech Priest or Guardsman, or very specific such as a Metallican Gunslinger or a Malfian Bloodsworn.
No Space Marines, Temple Assassins or anything like that.
However, I would like a variety of acolytes in this game, so I will ask that you stick to the rough guidelines below:
No more than 3 warrior-type acolytes. (Guardsmen, assassins, etc)
No more than one of each very specialised type of acolyte, such as a psyker or tech priest. (multiple ones become redundant within the group)
One person may be a member of the Adepta Sororitas, however they may only be chosen from the Orders Hospitaller or Dialogous.
One or two adepts, ministorum priests etc are alright, but try not to have more than one of each. I want everyone to have a strong sense of purpose as members of this elite team.

coolyo294 - Veteran Guardsman - Garis
+++DESIGNATION: GARIS+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 1a+++
Severine: sergeant Garis has proven himself to be a dependable, stalwart and versatile soldier. His faith was tested in battle with a foul Daemon, and was not found lacking. I sense there may be untapped potential in this one, as he is noticeably changed from the blank, unthinking Kriegsman I originally recruited.
In his report of the boarding action against the Errant Missionary, it appears he sacrificed the lives of squad Avarus and risked the loss of the prisoners for the sake of saving Kril. Some would see this as an unreasonable attachment to a comrade, however such loyalty to a fellow soldier is most unusual in a Kriegsman.
Nonetheless, the mission was a success and his tenacity in battle is commendable. I shall be watching his future development with great interest.
+++DESIGNATION: GARIS+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 1b+++
Severine: This one managed to get himself into all manner of trouble while I was in a coma. Single-handedly killing the renowned Hector Kalvus and his protégé is an impressive entry into his personal record. However, I question whether any of it was necessary. While I had no love for that overzealous buffoon Kalvus, I wonder whether Demetrius would have risen to make a fine Inquisitor in his place.
Regardless, Garis defended me when I was vulnerable. I do not know if Kalvus truly intended to threaten me on that day, as surely he could have brought his retinue or levy of troops and ensured my demise had he wished it. Only the Emperor knows for certain now. In the coming weeks I shall divide up Kalvus' resources between myself and my fellow Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor; Aleksandr Korvanvik.
Despite the matter having been officially resolved, I suspect some might regard the entire spectacle with some suspicion, given my past disagreements with him. As such, it is fortunate that sergeant Garis is now on deployment off-station.
+++DESIGNATION: GARIS+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 1c+++
Severine: The loss of Engineer 221-548-95664-08-Garis is regrettable. I have requested a replacement from the Valhallen regiment which arrived yesterday. Hopefully the replacement will... [sigh] Damn it all, Garis. We fought together for years and despite those layers of cold Krieg indoctrination, you became something more. You were the most reliable acolyte I've ever had. Martyring yourself in a giant explosion, that's a bit noble for you isn't it? I suppose you would go out with a bang.
The Emperor protects. End log.
Lord Harrab - Tech Priestess - Victora
+++DESIGNATION: VICTORA+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 2a+++
Severine: Enginseer Victora undoubtedly excels in her field of expertise, and I've met some Inquisitors less devoted to their duties than she is. Her abrasiveness can be tedious, and I believe if my orders conflicted with her own creed then she would disobey me. While this makes her a liability, her skills far outweigh any potential risk that may arise. I do respect her fearlessness and willingness to always give her opinion, when some other acolytes may hesitate in the face of one of my status. Ultimately, she is a vital member of my retinue, though I remain wary of her dual loyalties.
+++DESIGNATION: VICTORA+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 2b+++
Severine: The enginseer did well seeking out high enginseer Kaltoth and discovering more about that heretical machine-code which the Callidus Assassin used aboard the Redemptive Consul. Furthermore, her efficiency in dispatching and... 'interrogating' the traitor Aratos Novan is admirable. However, I am still wary of her dual-loyalties - it is possible that who;e she is on deployment without the supervision of an Inquisitor, she may start to place her own interests above my own. I have some faith in her fellow acolytes however, and Emperor willing, they will ensure she remembers her duties to the Inquisition. I am deeply curious as to where those coordinates lead to, if anywhere. Evidently, Aratos Novan went to some lengths to hide them. We must uncover the reason why.
+++DESIGNATION: VICTORA+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 3b+++
Severine: I thought that if Victora ever died in my service, I would miss her vast technological knowledge more than anything else. I was wrong. That uncharacteristic snark was rather endearing, despite how much it irritated me. She never hesitated to speak her mind, something that can also be very irritating - yet also invaluable, depending on the speaker. Emperor willing, Secutor Ravion will manage to fill the considerable void left by her death. I shall see that any personal effects she possessed are returned to the Mechanicus, though I expect I will find few. End log.
AegisFate - Sanctioned Psyker - Nicholas
+++DESIGNATION: NICHOLAS+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 3a+++
Severine: This one is a useful tool, both as a weapon and as a means of gathering information that cannot be extracted by more conventional means. I maintain a very close eye on him, lest the perils of the warp one day consume him. He has proven to be something of a wild card - while invaluable, his control of his abilities is often questionable. All manner of side effects often manifest as a result of utilising his psychic abilities, though his usefulness surpasses the danger he presents... for now.
+++DESIGNATION: NICHOLAS+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 3b+++
Severine: Once again, the psyker remains consistent in his unpredictable and volatile behaviour. The entire situation involving captain Hera and her ship could have been dealt with more subtly I believe, though instead he made a dangerous enemy in the form of chief Torvus. It is also unfortunate that he immolated the hostile psyker entirely, denying us another suspect to interrogate. Still... one less witch serving our hidden enemy is something of a success.
Furthermore, we also possess the planted evidence which Nicholas recovered - a tome of psychic power dedicated to the Changer of the Ways. It is kept under lock and key, as the wards protecting it have yet to be dispelled by the psyker. Oh, and in Nicholas' almost nonsensical report, it seems he experienced a psychic phenomenon when in battle with the other psyker, somehow resulting in him killing himself. This event is most curious, and I shall have to set aside time to study this in detail one day.
Note: ensure another acolyte is observing the psyker's actions whenever possible to reduce future calamities.
+++DESIGNATION: NICHOLAS+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 3c+++
Severine: Nicholas did well to stop Seth's treachery. It also appears that he utilised his psychic powers repeatedly - without incident. This is a promising improvement, as any psychic phenomenon would have likely ruined the entire operation. Perhaps I will grant him leave to enjoy some recreational activities, though when there will be time for such a reward I do not know. Regardless, I will remain wary for any signs that he might lose control again. The warp is fickle and his good fortune may not last.
Dewin - Skitarii - Kril
+++DESIGNATION: KRIL+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 4a+++
Severine: the skitarii has proven to be a most useful asset. No other soldier under my command will ever be so relentless, fearless and merciless as Kril. I admit I am glad that he survived the boarding action against Dravos Starworth's ship, for it would be difficult to requisition another skitarii. Unfortunately, while he excels at killing, it is his only area of expertise, making him a hindrance in other environments. Others in my retinue make up for this however, and Krill's singular talent for violence is truly remarkable. His ties to the Machine Cult do potentially represent a risk, as if Victora ever defied my command, I suspect Kril would side with the Enginseer.
+++DESIGNATION: KRIL+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 4b+++
Severine: The Skitarii once again weathered a mental assault as a result of the Psyker's inability to control his own powers. Fortunately, it seems Kril was unaffected by the experience... though in truth once one has been touched by the warp, they are never quite the same as before. Regardless, if his combat efficiency and loyalty are unaffected, then that is all I require.
While the many casualties sustained by the Dominus Security Department, most of whom I imagine were loyal footsoldiers bound to the whims of their likely corrupt commanders, their lives mean little. Kril sustained considerable damage, though I am told he recovered swiftly. Furthermore, he death toll he reaped is a stark reminder of how fearsome a warrior he is, and perhaps will make my enemies think twice about attacking my agents so brazenly.
The effectiveness of my stormtroopers is not in any doubt, however I lost most of them fighting the Callidus Assassin. Considering Kril's merciless nature, battle prowess and resilience, perhaps I shall contact High Enginseer Kaltoth and requisition a squad of Skitarii. I have no doubt that under Kril's command they would be utterly lethal.
+++DESIGNATION: KRIL+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 4c+++
Severine: Skitarii unit 811-134-Kril apparently survived alongside Titus until the final confrontation with the arch-heretek Joran Varnorak, which does not surprise me. His unnatural resilience and deadly strength in battle never failed to impress. He was quite unique for a warrior of the Omnissiah - certainly far more powerful than most. I doubt I will find any replacement even approaching his capabilities. To compensate, I think I will have to requisition superior firepower for some of the other acolytes. I will pass on the remaining data I possess on Kril's combat effectiveness to Enginseer Kaltoth. Perhaps one day there shall be more like him.
Warork - Adeptus Arbites Judge - Titus Nolus
+++DESIGNATION: TITUS NOLUS+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 5a+++
Severine: Judge Titus is a strong leader and well-rounded acolyte. I trust him to a greater extent than any of the others, however I cannot disregard his quite interesting past. Once branded a heretic, albeit wrongly, there is no doubting that he was markedly changed by his experiences outside of the Adeptus Arbites. Regardless, he is an invaluable and versatile member of my retinue.
Note: his exposure to the artifact and inquisitive nature are a worrying combination. He is very useful to me, but not irreplaceable. Should he be compromised by his knowledge of the artifact, then I will not hesitate to have him mind wiped.
+++DESIGNATION: TITUS NOLUS+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 5b+++
Severine: Titus acted swiftly to salvage the situation after the assassination attempts on my life, organising his fellow acolytes and working closely with Judge Horacio to ensure the situation aboard the Redemptive Consul did not escalate any further. To some extent I would appreciate his presence here to keep his fellows focused, however there is no doubting that his skills and level head will be invaluable out in the field. Whatever his team finds at those coordinates, I am confident he will evaluate the situation and act in my best interests.
+++DESIGNATION: TITUS NOLUS+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 5c+++
Severine: My right hand, my loyal arbitrator. Does he still exist? Titus Nolus was returned to life by my command, though I would have preferred to allow him peace. Alas, his resurrection was necessary. He has helped fill in the gaps for us... there is far more going on here than any of us realised. Yet there is still much that is unknown. I suspect far more happened on that strange, lost planet than Titus has told us. Unfortunately, I doubt he will ever be able to remember, and for that I forgive him. However, I cannot take chances. Inquisitor Praetus Khan has voyaged to those coordinates to conduct a thorough investigation, both of the supposedly destroyed facility and to discover the extent of this necron threat.
In the meantime, I will be watching Titus closely. There can be no doubting his raw strength. Combined with his considerable experience, he is more valuable than ever. Despite this, I have my doubts about him. I shall have to observe to see the extent of his mental trauma. Perhaps I will find a way to aid his wounded mind.
Nepty - Assassin / Manipulator - Morghast Sarasti
+++DESIGNATION: MORGHAST SARASTI+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 6a+++
Severine: Morghast is the most subtle tool in my arsenal. His mild mutation is regrettable, but tolerable. It seems his keen mind and experience was instrumental in defeating the Callidus assassin - a remarkable feat to be sure. Unfortunately, he still has the unfortunate trait of cowardice. While it has no doubt aided his survival over the decades, it could potentially compromise the success of a mission. An acolyte is expected to lay down their life if necessary to fulfil their duty, and should he fail in that regard at a critical moment, the repercussions could be dire. I will be observing to see if this weakness is purged during his continued service.
+++DESIGNATION: MORGHAST SARASTI+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 6b+++
Severine: [sigh]. Morghast allowed Dravos Starworth to escape. While he did obtain some information from Starworth, the fact remains that a man who attacked a vessel of the holy Inquisition is now at large. The blame for this rests solely on Morghast. We face a threat too great for me to hinder my own assets, however once this situation is dealt with, he shall face severe penance for his lack of judgement. I pray to the Emperor that Morghast proves himself very useful in the near future, for he treads on thin ice after his failure.
admiral9 - Crusader - Samael
+++DESIGNATION: SAMAEL+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 7a+++
Severine: I desired a reprieve from my studies in the archives today, which I found when I entered my personal training room. I had planned to simply spar with the training servitors, however I found Samael there. The thought occurred that he defeated and killed his previous Inquisitor in personal combat. While he was officially declared innocent of treason and murder, I think the entire matter is nonetheless suspicious. As such, I duelled him to test his capabilities.
He is very well trained, a challenge for myself I admit. But I am a hundred-and-ten years his senior, and I've found that experience counts for more than training. In truth I could have defeated him, but that would not serve my purposes.
Should he ever, by some twisted machination of the Great Conspirator, make an attempt on my life, he will now underestimate me. When I fight someone for real, I do not want them to know what I am truly capable of. Emperor willing, he will prove himself a devout and trustworthy acolyte, for it would be troubling indeed if he is an enemy in disguise. As an Inquisitor, I cannot disregard that possibility.
Regardless of his dubious loyalties, I am pleased that he is as great a warrior as his service record indicates. He will be invaluable in vanquishing the enemies of the Emperor in these dark times, for I fear we are surrounded by foes... without, and within.
+++DESIGNATION: SAMAEL+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 7b+++
Severine: It appears I was wise to induct Samael into my retinue, for he saved my life, albeit just barely. I recognise the precautions he took, as all but our own Enginseer Victora would most likely have admitted the reprogrammed servitor. What matters is that he reacted quickly enough to protect me while I was vulnerable, a fact I shall not forget.
It also appears that he has become increasingly mistrustful and argumentative with other members of my retinue. Despite his valuable skills, I shall have to keep an eye on him in case his... agitative attitude escalates.
RaptorsTalon - Elite Guardsman / Captain - Lucina Stormward
+++DESIGNATION: LUCINA STORMWARD+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 8a+++
Severine: Captain Stormward's incapacitation was untimely, as her service record indicates she would have been very valuable. I hear she is still in intensive care, apparently trapped in a coma. If she ever awakens, I hope she is still capable of serving the Emperor, however the medicae staff indicated that it was unlikely she would ever regain consciousness. For now, I shall ensure she is not terminated. Her fate lies in the Emperor's hands.

+++DESIGNATION: MORGHAST SARASTI+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 6a+++
Severine: Morghast is the most subtle tool in my arsenal.

+++DESIGNATION: SAMAEL+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 7a+++
Severine: I desired a reprieve from my studies in the archives today, which I found when I entered my personal training room.

+++DESIGNATION: LUCINA STORMWARD+++
+++Encryption Level: SIGMA+++
+++Recording Log 8a+++
Severine: Captain Stormward's incapacitation was untimely, as her service record indicates she would have been very valuable.
