To be clear, I haven't voiced my opinion on this due to being on holiday. However I do agree with Korsera. However, Klimino is only human and of course we are all just here to have fun. I believe I speak for us all when I say we like this game and can all see a great deal of potential in it. Back to the mosti mportant thing though: we are here to have fun and as Korsera stated, there's no fun in an indirectly railroaded death. This is the crux of the issue: GMs and players often do not view the situations in the game in the same way, which is why OOC communication is vital. If a player's own actions lead to their downfall, be it stupidity or bad luck or dice, it's fair game and still good fun.
Point is mechanics should serve the players and not the other way around. Don't mistake me Klimino, I'm not ranting at you - far from it. This is your game and you have final say. However I do know you to be a very reasonable person so I don't doubt you will learn from this incident.
As for you Korsera, your disillusioned attitude is fully understandable, particularly as a new user. I hope you understand klimino only did what he thought would be most fun. I reckon you should, considering this insightful discussion, rejoin with some faith and see how it goes.
As for my personal two cents, I personally think readiness orders are clunky. I recommend considering all actions simultaneously Klimino, with each combat round being shorter - only a few seconds with multiple rounds. This means all decisions are critical and players' all get a say, possibly affecting each other for better or worse in the chaos. Oh, and wherever possible I try to let players write their character's deaths themselves. Closure of a sort, particularly when they get invested.
Anywho, I feel like all has been said that can be said here, so with that in mind guys, let's get back into the fun of it. Klimino and Korsera, if either of you have more to say then please open a pm thread with all three of us in it.
Onwards comrades - loot awaits!
