Traffic was light in the vampire quarter and Cade arrived at the station earlier than any of the other rookie officers. He changed into his uniform and headed to the briefing room. As he entered he spotted the blackboard and quickly read his assignment. A wide grin crossed his face when he saw he'd been assigned one of the powerful SMGs.
As his partner still had yet to arrive, Cade decided to go and grab his weapon alone. Following the signs he eventually arrived at the armory, a counter partitioned off by a thick sheet of bulletproof glass. A bored looking human named Wilkinson sat behind the sheet, leafing through a magazine about guns and ammo. He looked up as Cade approached.
"Name and badge number." He said flatly.
"Name, Cade Harlock. And badge number, uh, give me a second." Cade said as he fumbled with his wallet. Eventually he managed to extract his department-issued ID card. "Badge number 366."
The armorer consulted a clipboard. "Yup, Cade Harlock. One PK 490 Selective Fire SMG." He said, sliding the matte-black weapon and some magazines through a slot in the glass. "Any damage or loss of this equipment is coming out of your paycheck, rookie, so watch it. And take care not to go blasting up sus pets willy nilly, the last thing the department needs is bad press from collateral damage. "
"Wilco, sir." Cade said. As he headed back to the briefing room, he spotted his partner and a few of the other rookies enter the building.
"Morning Alex. I checked the blackboard and we've been assigned to patrol Mt. Kiran. Grab your shit and meet me outside, I'll pull the car up." Cade said to the elderly werewolf

Alex walked in through the front doors of the precinct just as Cade was walking out. He was clad in the standard uniform of the MRPD which was obviously somewhat different to Cade's body encompassing suit and helmet. The vampire officer looked almost more ready to climb into a rocket and go on a space mission rather than be a street cop. This image had been the norm for vampire officer for years, however, as it was simply unfeasible for an agency to put all of its sun allergic officers on the night shift. Alex came to a stop as Cade informed him of what their very first patrol duty entailed.
"Mt. Kiran eh?" He responded, taking his sunglasses off now that the harsh light of the stark morning outside was gone. "That neck of the woods is usually quiet. Maybe Arthur decided to go easy on us." He shrugged, his hands on his gear belt.
"Speaking of grabbing shit." Alex said as he walked past the suited vampire. "You'll need these to start the car." He threw Cade the keys to their vehicle and the officer caught it fairly deftly, showing no signs that the suit was hindering him. "Picked them up at the front desk, but you can probably drive just as good as me anyway. I'll be out in a minute."
With that, Alex went off to pick up his issued weapon. The standard pistol that the MRPD used was lighter and seemed a bit more new age than the more venerable model that the Viridian City PD used. Though from what Alex could see they both fired a similar round. A new feature of course were different magazines for different targets. Dangerous metas were often only pissed off by being shot with regular ammunition in the field (a lesson especially learned back in the war days) so there were a couple options depending on what you were shooting at. Silver alloy rounds were the obvious choice for the average run in with a wolf and UV rounds were a bit more complex but were perfect for dealing with any dastardly vampire you might cross paths with.
Alex checked the action of the weapon he was issued and found it to be in satisfactory condition. After briefly thanking the armory attendant, he took a moment to holster the weapon and then went to see if Cade had pulled the car around yet.
The Mt. Kiran community was a fair drive from the precinct. Alex didn't mind all that much. The day was nice and the sky was bright with sun in a cloudless sky. Perhaps his partner wasn't so keen on nice days though, he thought. Cade hadn't said much since they'd gotten in the car but Alex could hardly blame him. The two had only met a day ago and this was their first day working in a job considered high stress together so he supposed a little nerves were admissible.
"I think I might have come out here maybe three times since I joined up." Alex said as he looked out the window of the cruiser at one of the many small town streets they had driven down. "Easy to see why; nothing but trees, fields, and all these cookie cutter subdivisions." He explained, adding a snort. Mt. Kiran loomed in the distance, casting a lot of the town in shadow as the sun peeked out from behind it.
After a while of more silence with intermittent bursts of small talk, the car's radio mercifully cracked to life.
"Car 98, dispatch. What's your 10-73?" a calm female voice said between small bursts of static.
"We're 10-4 here, go ahead dispatch." Alex said, picking up the car's handheld receiver as Cade continued to drive.
"We've got a report of some possible 10-66s in your area. Need you to investigate the block around the intersection of Jackson and O'Rourke where they were last seen, over."
"10-4 dispatch, did the report specify any 10-31s?"
"Negative. Precinct thinks it may have to do with the new drugs on the street, though. Advise when you are 10-97, over."
"10-4." Alex concluded, putting the radio aside as he glanced at Cade. "You heard her, lets go to work."

Alex/Cade(A-Cade 47)
As you approach the intersection you both notice a brown truck with a lift-kit, mud on the tires and lower chassis indicates that it has been used for off-roading before. Two men are seen outside of the truck and one in the driver's seat, discussing something and one of them points to the tarp covered truck bed. As the light from the sun reflects off of your cruiser, you see the driver begin to squint at his side-view mirror. You note little head movement, but one of the men climbs back inside the truck while the other one quickly sprints down an alley next to a local convenience store. The truck begins to slowly pull into the early morning traffic but it's unable to blend in completely with the smaller sedans surrounding it. You begin to tail the vehicle and sit a few cars behind it to ensure a proper distance. The truck sits behind a small van at the light, as the light turns green the truck revs it's engine and smashes into the rear passenger side of the van.
